I am sure his answers will be as bad as a politician during a debate. The fans should be asking him questions and be critical of him!!!
Omar needs to go!!!!
Rob,
Omar isn’t going anywhere nor of course should he. Same with Willie. I’m pised off about the lackluster play of this team as well but to think that Omar and or Willie should be fired is nuts!
It’s all about performance and what the Wilpon’s will expect and accept from them. If I was Fred I would be pissed off that the final results were not positive, if they do not atleast make it to the WS. I am sure the team has one of the highest payrolls in MLB. Now granted injuries have not helped the situation, but in any business problems arise, situations changes things and you still need to perform to the highest level that is expected of you. If your a public company Wall St. would not be thrilled with their results. You can’t fire 25-30 players so the managers, coaches and the GM have to be held accountable for the actions of the team. What has Willie done to stimulate this team. Omar has been not using his connections and brains to improve this team.
I mean come on man. Omar has done a good job. We have gone from a hopeless mess to a 1st place team in 2 years time under Omar and Willie. I don’t like some of Omar’s moves, but he has done more good then bad. Willie bewilders me at times, but he has done a good job for the most part. This is only his third yr, and he is still learning you can say. He deff. better then Art Howe and Jeff Torborg or other losers we have had in the past. Thank god for Omar because Jeff Wilpon and Freddy seem to be clueless without a smart baseball man under him. You can’t compare wall st. to a professional baseball team either. Its like apples and Oranges. Just relax dude and enjoy the ride. This is deff.better then 2004 before Omar and Willie.
Read this below: Another great move by Omar to receive crap for this prospect.!!!
Brian Bannister went the distance in a 9-2 win over the Athletics on Friday.
Bannister gave up just five baserunners in the game, with both runs scoring on a Nick Swisher two-run homer in the first. The complete game was the first of Bannister’s career. In 20 starts this season, Bannister has a surprising 3.31 ERA to go along with a fine 9-7 record. He’ll get the White Sox next week.
John is 100 % right. Everytime I go after Willie for something I always preface it with I like him and want him to stay as mgr We all scratch our heads at some of Willie’s moves but he still has done a nice job As for Omar I still can’t see how you can say he’s done a bad job. Sure the Burgos/Bannister deal looks bad but with word that Buros is pitching again a could be joining the team come September I’m not ready to write that deal off as a loss
Steve: I am saving this answer and lets see what you say when Bannister finishes the season with 11 or 12 wins with the Royals no less and Burgos blows a game for us that has meaning.
Here is a list of other transactions that Omar can not say he is proud of:
LHP Jason Vargas and LHP Adam Bostick from the Florida Marlins in exchange for RHP Henry Owens and RHP Matt Lindstrom
cquired OF Ben Johnson and RHP Jon Adkins from the San Diego Padres in exchange for RHP Heath Bell and LHP Royce Ring.
Resigned free agent INF Jose Valentin to a one-year contract with a vesting option for 2008
Re-signed RHP Guillermo Mota to a two-year contract.
Signed LHP Scott Schoeneweis to a three-year contract; Signed RHP Jorge Sosa to a one-year contract
Signed RHP Duaner Sanchez to a one-year contract.
Signed INF/OF David Newhan to a one-year contract.
Signed RHP Brian Lawrence to a Minor League contract.
I’m out here in Las Vegas. I listen on XM radio. I root so hard for the Mets’ that sometimes I think they gave me a heart attack. They blew the last game and almost blew thew second game against the Pirates. Alou has done great since he returned. Still he is a bit old. Yet, the young guys aren’t doing or playing the game as well as they should. The Met’s seem to be going through the motions and are not producing. And what’s with Reyes swinging at first pitches. They have a few more series with the Braves and Phillie’s. They better shape up or they’ll not even be in the play offs. Stick a fork in them they’re done.
