Thank God I didn’t see last night’s game live. I spent the night at Key Span Park (over 9,000 fans packed Coney Island last night) to see the Cyclones sweep the Hudson Valley Renegades in a double header. But thanks to my son and his new phone, we kept track of this game on Gameday. So much for modern technology. A few issues with this game so let’s take them one by one shall we:
· Some day they will a manager who will possess a pair of balls big enough to tell his closer he couldn’t give two shits about saves and save situations. Willie Randolph is not that manager. I want to kill Willie for lifting Heilman after 1/3 IP with Marlon Anderson as a pinch hitter with 2 out but in that band box of a ballpark Anderson is Dave Kingman and could pop one out. My problem is with the bottom of the 9th. Two of the three hitters due up for the Phillies, Jimmy Rollins and the very dangerous Chase Utley, can end the game with one pitch. In that spot I want the best pitcher I have left in the pen and that’s Dead Arm Wagner. If I’m going down, I’m going down with my best. If Willie’ excuse is it’s not a save situation I call out a big loud BULLSHIT on that. So of course Willie goes with just about the last option available and that’s Guierllmo Mota. Amazingly, the Mets got a 1-2-3 inning out of Mota. At that time Willie should have blessed himself and said Thank you Jesus and gotten Dead Arm ready to face Ryan Howard in the 10th. The matchup has everything you want, lefty vs. lefty, your best against their best , seems easy to me right? Not to Willie, he stays with the human land mine Mota and well you know the rest. As good as I thought Randolph operated as a manager last year, this year he has been poor.
· When I watched Mets FastFoward, it seemed to me on Delgado’s HR ¾ of the fans were Mets fans as it sounded like Shea when the ball sailed over the RF fence.
· Bye-bye Brian Lawrence. Hello Endy Chavez . Word is Mike Pelfrey will get the start on Saturday that was to be Lawrence’s and then that would but the next go around in the rotation a spot for Petey. That would move Pelfrey to the pen, a move that should have been made a month ago and if any one is awake in the Mets front office they would add Willie Collazo, Carlos Muniz and Phil Humber to the staff as well. Let Mota play catch with Tom Nieto until the end of September then de-activate him.
· I don’t care how far he hit that HR; Delgado still looks like shit at the plate.
· I can’t take Jose Reyes seriously as an MVP candidate until he stops hitting the ball in the air and taking plays off in the field.
· J.D Durbin and Adam Eaton shut down the Mets offense so if the Mets do get to the post season just think about what Brandon Webb and Jake Peavy will do to them.
· Sorry if I sound bummed out but until the Mets show they can beat the Phillies and the Braves I can’t take Mets seriously going deep in the post season

You’re right, this has to be one of the most underachieving teams I’ve ever seen. I compare our lineup with the Phillies and just can’t figure out how they score more runs than us. I’ve never even heard of half their lineup. In that park, we should be scoring 10 runs a game yet we can barely muster 7 hits a game.
At this point, all I can hope for is that the Mets pull a 2006 Cardinals and play shit ball all year then all of a sudden become the ‘86 Mets in October.
BTW, nice to see you are back Steve

Didn’t know you’d returned, Steve. Great. I’ll come by daily now.

Pretty rough week, but I’m not despondent. I really want a win today and two in Atlanta. Then they’ll have proven they can beat the Braves. They’ve already played all right against Philadelphia this year outside of this week. Need to win today, however.

Steve,
I haven’t caught up with all your posts since you’ve returned, but how much of a loss do you think Manny Acta has been? I keep wondering if Willie was really dependent on Acta the past two seasons and he’s lost without him this year.

Eagle, welcome back to you as well. I see you were on holiday. The coach with the most influence on Willie is Jerry Manuel although acta was in the inner circle as well. If Mannuel was to get a managerial job Willie would be out a valuable ear.

WILLIE SUCKS HE HORRIBLE. BECAUSE OF HIS EGO HE DID NOT MANAGE IN THE MINORS, WHERE HE MIGHT HAVE LEARNED HOW TO MANAGE. WILLIE HAS TO GO WHEN WILL THE WILPONS SEE THAT OMAR SPENT ALOT OF $$$$$$$ AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED POSITIVE RESULTS. YEAH ALL OF YOU PEA BRAINS CAN SAY THAT THEY WON THE NL EAST LAST YEAR. BIT WHOOPEE, THEY STILL FAILED TO MAKE IT TO THE WS AND WIN. SO NO MATTER IF YOU FINISHED LAST OR LOSE THE WORLD SERIES YOUR TEAM ARE NOT THE WORLD CHAMPS. SO THE METS FAILED LIKE ALL OTHER CLUBS EXCEPT FOR THE CARDS. SO WITH THIS SAID ONCE AGAIN I CROWN WILLIE A LOSER AND HE HAS TO GO!!!!!
