SQUEEZE ME WILLIE, SQUEEZE ME!!!

Sometimes I think I take rooting for the Mets too seriously. I mean here it is 12 hours after last night’s game and I’m sitting in front of a pile of bills that need to be paid, kids who need to go to soccer practice a lawn that needs mowing and countless other responsibilities but the one thing that’s burning in my head is why Willie Randolph hates the squeeze play.

Last night in the bottom of the 8th the Mets have the perfect squeeze situation.  Score is 2-2 there is one out Carlos Gomez, who runs as fast as the speed of light, on third and one of the best bunters in baseball, Luis Castillo at the plate. The situation is screaming SQUEEZE. I’m screaming SQUEEZE. But of course the American League raised Randolph, hates the squeeze as well as the hit and run. This was the perfect spot for the Mets to take the lead with Billy Wagner primed and ready to come in to close it out. The script was perfect. But Willie says no. I know some people think the role of manager is overrated but after last night I don’t know how you can still make that claim. Willie’s lack of aggressiveness may have cost the Mets the game last night, a game they needed to win.

I’ll be back on blog talk radio tonight as a gust of Frankie The Sports Guy. Hit the link right here at 9PM to hear the show. Also if you can’t listen live go here to Frankie The Sports Guy’ web page to hear it in the archive.

Don’t you have to do these things once in a while to make the other teams think about them?

Willie is a Pea Brain Manager. He has no skills to motivate and excite his team. He has no game plan to stimulate runs and make the other team fear them!!!
WILLIE SUCKS… Do you understand that????

They are making me sick to my stomach. There is no energy and enthusiasm from this team. It all stems from their boring manager. He sucks so bad. I have to believe he has told Reyes to cool off his cocky attitude and dancing. Reyes has not been himself and has not shown any energy or
cockiness that he has shown. This team was not able to beat the Braves, now its the Phils. It’s all physiological that they can not go out and dominate this team.
I can not picture Pea Brain Willie aka Joe Torre Jr, in the locker giving a speech to pump up his team and create excitement for them. He poseses no sense of urgency to WIN!!! I say send him back to the Skankees free of charge. He has no management skills and shows a poor knowledge of the game to stimulate runs. WHEN WILL THE WILPONS REALIZE THAT THEIR TEAM SUCKS AND BLAMES WILLIE. LET ME ADD THAT RICK ( I AM OVER RATED AKA REGIS PHILBIN) PETERSON SUCKS TOO. HE NEEDS TO STOP OVER ANALYZING EVERY PITCH AND EVERY MOVE HIS PITCHER MAKES. WHY IS BRIAN JOEY LAWRENCE THROWING TOMORROW?? WHERE ARE YOUR YOUNG STUDS TO PITCH. THEY WOULD PROBABLY DO BETTER THEN A GUY WHO HAS SHOWN NOTHING!!! THIS STEMS FROM PEA BRAIN WILLIE.
    WIILIE MUST GO

I am totally soured and annoyed with this teams lack of intensity to win and to show the NL, they are the team to beat. As I have mentioned in earlier blogs this stems from Willie. He is awful and probably one of the worse motivators in sports. In sports, a head coach or manager have to know how to motivate and drive their team to a championship. He fails to protect his players with calls from the UMPS. He wants to create the same corporate image that Skankees portray. A great example is when Wright hit his 30th homer a while ago, they showed Willie. He just stood there and basically did nothing. He should have been the 1st one to great David and create excitement by celebrating a success of one of his players. He is blander then a plain piece of untoasted white bread.
So with this said and how upset I am with their performance, I want to make this message clear.
For the next 2 weeks I will be pulling for the Phils to win the NL East. The reason is true from what Jimmy Rollins said. They are the team to beat, their hitting is better and they have the drive and urgency to win. Their manager is a leader he is not afraid to protect his players. He shows emotion. Once the Mets( My Entire Team Sucks) go home after Sept30 will the Wilpons react then. Jeff and Fred need to open their eyes, stop worrying about Citi Field and say he Omar and Willie in 3 years you both failed to win the WS. We spent a ton of $$$ on players and you failed to make it happen. They should have never hired Willie, his ego was too big to go to the minors and learn to manage. Just because he was a coach, it does not justify his knowledge to lead and manage. Oh yeah I would not be surprise that they hired him to piss the Skankees off and because of him being a minority along with their GM. They need to eat their losses and find a new combination of GM and Manager to stimulate some excitement. I hereby vote for either Joe Giriadi or Gary Carter for Field Manager and as far as GM,bring back Bobby Valentine. SO LETS GO PHILS. IT WILL BE NICE FOR THEM TO WIN THE NL EAST, WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS HAPPEN ON THE LAST DAY OF THE SEASON. SCREW YOU WILLIE, YOU SUCK

My friend you are no true met fan. I think your a closet Yankee fan. No true met fan would rabble on like you do. No true met fan would wish the Mets to lose no matter how bad the manager is. Willie seems challenge at times when managing, but I want the mets to win in dispite of his ineptness. Even if the Mets were manage by Isiah Thomas I would still root for them to win. If your a true fan you root for the team through thick and thin. The only problem I got with Willie is using Mota even after the whole world knows he’s a mess. And some of his in game decisions bothered me, but there could be worst. For instance, Tom Coughlin who coaches my football team. The Giants should changed their nickname to little blue. There Charlie Manuel who makes Willie look like Tom Lasorda. Your critique of Omar is flawed as well. Omar has done a decent job, and he has turn a miserable franchise into a respectable product. Omar has made some questionable moves, but has done more good then bad.

    Krane,

It’s Sept. 20th and I just read your post on the game in which Willie didn’t squeeze with Castillo in the 8th inning. I couldn’t agree with you more. That play, more than any other I can think of, showed how limited Willie is as a strategic thinking manager. You just lay down a safety squeeze bunt there, not a suicide squeeze to negate the pitch out, and you have a gift run. Then of course, Wagner struck out the side but it meant nothing. A victory in that game and the Phillies would have been toast and this recent terrible streak would never have happened. And don’t get me started on leaving Schoenweiss in to face any righthanded hitter! ;)
