YOU MEN EAT YOUR DINNER EAT YOUR PORK AND BEANS I EAT MORE CHICKEN THAN ANY MAN EVER SEEN YEAH YEAH I’M A BACK DOOR MAN

If you have read this site for awhile you know my philosophy for winning baseball is pitching and defense. Hitting ,while exciting to watch does not thrill me like watching a pitcher hit corners, change speeds and make hitters look foolish. A top flight pitcher is as rare as Britney Spears wearing her Hanes but hitters you can find in abundance. With that said excuse me for not being piss my pants giddy over last night’s comeback loss. I’m not at all excited with this Mets team down the stretch. I know I should be on the edge of my Lazy-Boy as they try to close the deal on the NL East but the way the pitching staff has just been so ineffective has put a damper on my enthusiasm.

Last night was just awful but with a little ray of sunshine. My personnel punching bag Titan Tom Glavine picked a bad time to shit the bed. Titan Tommy has bee n very good the last five starts but last night with a worn out bullpen and a rookie making his first ML start today in Philip Humber, Glavine needed to add to his Hall of Fame dossier and go a strong 7. Instead he threw some very flat and very hittable pitches that instead of hitting the corners were nice and juicy middle in batting practice fastballs that Austin Kerns, Tony Batista and Justin Maxwell launched out of Shea. Great, thanks for nothing Tommy.

Freddy Skill Sets called for a sit down with Omar and Willie yesterday mostly due to his dumb ass son Jeffey spouting off to reporters that he is upset with Omar, Willie and the players for their awful play of late. There isn’t bigger critic of Jeffey Skill Sets that myself but what he said is on the mark. The team has played just a smidge better that mediocre the last three months of the season and should not be in a knock down drag out battle with teams like the Nats and the Fish day in and day out. But Freddy felt he had to make an appearance and smooth a few of the jagged edges. I do think that Willie was told to start using the personnel that’s on hand and stop using Mota and Sosa like they had rubber arms. All of a sudden Philip Humber gets a start and last night Carlos Muniz gets the call (more on this in a second) I have no proof or inside knowledge but both moves to me have the Omar Minaya stamp on them if you ask me. Humber has been here all month and all he has done was get two walk on roles and spit a lot of sunflower seeds in the bullpen. Muniz as well, he comes in a game that was on the line and that’s Willie’ thinking? HA HA. By the way ,as happy as I was to see Muniz get a shot and get through his first big league inning with flying colors, why would you bring him back for a second inning? The kid was a closer all season in Bingo pitching one inning why not be happy with that inning and move on? The kid was charged with two runs due to the fact that Jose Reyes fucked up again in the field not covering second base on a ball hit to Carlos Delgado. I wish I knew what was up with Reyes but I do know that blaming it on Rickey Henderson is bullshit. So we can’t criticize Willie for mismanagment of game situations but we can rip the shit out of Rickey the first base coach because he’s close to Reyes? Only in Metsville does that make sense.

Oh and to Bill Madden, a man who when I see him on TV or hear him on the radio just makes my skin crawl as he reminds me of someone you would find Chris Hansen interviewing on Dateline (we have the transcripts here Mr. Madden isn’t your screen name Pinstriped Penis?) who thinks we are all idiots for questioning Willie Randolph’s in game screw ups, how about you take it up with Gary Cohen. Here is why I love Cohen, he’s one of us. Born and bred Mets fan and no wallflower is he. He questioned, and rightly so, the use of Muniz for two innings and why Scott Shoenewiess was (a) not in the game to face Brain Schneider and (b) if Randolph is not bringing him in why is he up and throwing? In fact Schoenewiess was up a couple of times in the seventh and this is something that pisses off relievers, up and throw, sit down, up and throw, sit down. I bet if you put Omar under the hot lights he’d agree too with Cohen. In fact just listen to Paul LoDuca when he is on WFAN when questions over strategy and handling of the pen comes up. It’s not what he says it’s how he says it that speaks volumes on how he’s not thrilled with Willie.

Please Mets fans I’m begging you PLEASE STOP DOING THE TOMAHAWK CHOP!!!! YOU LOOK LIKE TOTAL ASSHOLES DOING THAT. JUST PAINT A BIG “L” ON YOUR FOREHEAD FOR “LOSER” I thought doing the wave was awful this chopping bullshit beats that.

You have to check out the new site by Anthony DeRosa of Hot Foot fame called Mets Pulse. it’s the Kwik-e-Mart of Mets news and views. It is Apu Aproved!

    Ed,

    Thanks for speaking our minds. I would just like to add that I believe that Rick Peterson’s lack of MLB experience really comes into play this time of year. I believe that instead of technical pep-talks and hand holding you need to lay it out plain and simple in times of trouble.

    Peterson just doesn’t get what to do in times of intensity - he just defaults to his little Mr. Rogers talks. It’s my observation that pitchers look more confused than empowered after a visit from Peterson.

    Lastly, with regard to our friendly Mr. Rick; just look at his post-season record with the A’s. Even then I took note of his apparent flacid approach to end-of-the-season baseball.

    Thumbs down for Mr. Peterson. Get someone in there that’s done it before (Ron Darling, maybe?).

    My post is full of vitriol b/c I have suffered with this terrible franchise for my entire life.

    Literally was made to love this team on the knees of my Dad, who watched Canizarro, Pfeil, Theodore, et. al.

    I LOVE this team but HATE how they choke and finish SECOND FIDDLE ALL THE TIME TO THE SPANKS.

    Enough!!! Stop w. the IRAN wisecracks and GET ANGRY WITH ME SO THAT THE LOSER WILPONS SELL AND GIVE US A CHANCE TO WIN NYC BACK IN THIS LIFETIME.

    Kranepool,

    I have to admit when I read comments like those above it makes me feel just a little better.

    You know what, two firemen from my town were killed yesterday. First firemen killed on the job in Ireland in 35 years. And, the first ever killed in this town (25,000 people live here). Our whole town is mourning.

    Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t get annoyed at the Mets, but really everyone needs some perspective. Even if the Mets do manage to blow this, I’ll only have to endure some ribbing from friends and family, but not much more. I won’t lose my wife (okay, there are times when I think maybe I will, but I won’t), my children, my home, my job - really nothing important is on the line.

    And, Kranepool, if your teenage daughter is pregnant by Wagner it could be a lot worse. If the father was the 16-year-old half-wit your daughter & the baby would not be well-off financially, which they certainly will be if Billy Wagner’s the Daddy.

    Jeffy Skill Sets, I have this ILL Feeling, is the Architecht of this Current Mess, as few to no deals were done, so Jeffy could buy his Sling Box:

    Chad Bradford was quite-good, but Joe Smith’s Asking Price was BETTER;

    Mota is NOTHING without his Drogas(Performance Enhancing Drugs);

    Aaron Heilman is COLD, & needed Surgery last fall on his elbow;

    Titan Tommy is 41-Pitchers do NOT age like Fine Wine;

    & El Duque will either be 43 or 53, depending on which Birth Certificate is Accurate.
