I want to thank the Red Sox for that 7 run outburst in the 5th inning last that allowed me to get to bed at a descent hour. There was no suspense last night as the Josh Beckett launched laser beams at the too rested Rockies batters and the Sawx offense-Manny Being Manny-kicking Jeff Francis and Franklin Morales ass, (did you see the look on Morales face wow all I could hear in my head was Howard Cosell’s voice “DOWN GOES MORALES” a complete thrashing) up and down Yawkey Way.
The baseball fan in me hopes that the Rocks can get to Schilling and make a series out of this. The Mets fan in me says I hope the Sawx sweep so the Hot Stove can flame on and Omar can get to work tinkering not overhauling the Mets for ’08.
Tell me if the Young Theo makes Manny available that you wouldn’t want him on the Mets next season? If you say no, you’re out of your mind. His at bats are a work of art as he works counts and hangs in with two strikes. This has been a yearly off season crusade with me, BRING MANNY TO THE METS !!!!!!!!!
I feel bad for Tony Pena. I have a better shot of managing the Highlanders the he has but as per The Used Car Salesman, you must interview a token minority before you pick the best white guy available to fill your managerial spot. So in order to keep a coaching job on Donnie Baseball’s staff, Pena took one for the organization.
I love how MBFOTSH said yesterday that the Mets have been quiet and how the Highlanders have taken over the back pages of the papers. What an asshole. What would he like the Mets to do? You can’t make trades. You can’t sign free agents. It looks like the only coach not coming back in ’08 is Rickey. So what do you want the Mets to do you fat dumb ass,

One of the best games on the Monday Night Football schedule is when there is an October or November game in Denver as chances are their will be a huge snowstorm during the game. But one thing I don’t look forward to is a baseball game in the snow especially a World Series game in a blizzard. Football is cold and snow and North Face jackets and long underwear but baseball is sunny and warm and Mr.Mets t-shirts and flip flops. It’s fair to say in both Boston and Denver no one will be wearing the summer time apparel but more parkas and gloves which flat out sucks. However it should still be a fine Fall Classic.
This is a series of questions. Does Francona go with Beckett with short rest to get three starts out of him? Does Jon Lester get the start in Game 4? It looks like Lester will get that start and that’s the reason Wakefield is left off the roster as you can’t pitch a knuckle ball in the thin air of Denver. The biggest question for Tito is what happens when the games are played in Denver? Papi goes to first base but what to do with the Greek God of Walks? How can you sit Youklis? Does Francona do something radical like move Lowell to short in place of the woeful Lugo and put Youk at 3rd? I wouldn’t as you now have weaken yourself at three positions. You could look to put Youkilis in RF but he has never played RF in the big leagues and that’s alot of ground to cover in Coors. Most likely Youkils will sit out the games at Coors and that’s an advantage to the Rockies.
The Red Sox have the edge in starting pitching but the Rockies have the better pen. The eight day layoff helps the Rockies pitching staff to rest their weary arms but what of the bats, is that too long a lay off?
As you can see I have no clear cut way I going with this series which looks to be a good one and as hot as the Rockies are I’m still going with the Red Sox as I feel Josh Beckett and Curt Schilling are just too tough in big games plus Game 7 if need be is on Lansdown St to Sawx in 7

The biggest problem/criticism leveled against the ‘07 Mets was the front office undermining Willie Randolph in the clubhouse. So today by Omar coming out and saying the Mets will not pursue Rudy Jaramilo it tells me that Willie has gotten back his clubhouse:
{”I love Rudy like a brother, but it would be totally unfair to bring him in after I interviewed him as manager,” Minaya said. “It wouldn’t be fair to HoJo, who did an outstanding job as hitting coach. If you look at the numbers, everything in the second half of the year we were up in.”}
As much as would have loved to see Jaramilo work with Reyes and Milledge and Gomez I’m much happier that it looks like Willie Randolph has gotten his clubhouse back.

As per Watchdog and the great Neil Best we get word that starting today Brian Kenny will join Max Kellerman-who needs all the help he can get-on 1050ESPN radio here in NYC. Kenny is a local guy and is a total pro as well as informed as you know from watching him on ESPNEWS. Time to take a break from “Oh the Pain” and his little partner and check out Max and Brian

Sometimes your just better off letting fans sleep outside the stadium for tickets as the Rockies found out that winning can be one big pain in the ass.

I consider myself as a progressive guy but some shit that would be considered “old school” should stay a part of baseball. Last night current Orioles player Kevin Milar threw out the first pitch at Fewnay before game 7 as a guest of the Sawx. He was laughing and joking and carring on with some of his former teamates like he was a retired hero back to the battleground. How could the Orioles allow this? It’s just so fucking wrong.
I heard about this on the Red Sox pre game show on NESN from the Rem Dawg who said the Red Sox had wanted Petey to throw out the first pitch in Game 6 and the Mets said HELL NO!!!!!!! Thank god there is still some shred of sanity on Roosevelt Ave.
Fraternizing with the oponent is a big no-no with me. I hate this huging the enemy and the openess of the clubhouses .
As much as I hate the Islanders, I always respected Billy Smith who never shook hands after Stanley Cup playoff games as he stated “those guys are trying to take bread of my family’s table” and he’s right.

You think Joel Skinner has a Southwest Airlines ticket waiting for him? Want to get away? How bad was his judgment in the Indian 7th when he held up Kenny Lofton on Franklin Gutierrez single off the left field stands? With one out, how can you not send Lofton? Even if he’s thrown out, you still have a man on 2nd with 2 outs and Casey Blake, one of the few guys hitting for the Tribe up. Skinner was like the rest of his team, tighter than that dumb ass drum that moron beats at the Jake.
The rumors are flying fast and furious concerning Johan Santana. MLB Trade Rumors has the Highlanders offering Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Stan Bahnsen, and Joe Verbanic. Do you get the feeling the Santana to a big market team will dominate the winter?
Also on MLB Trade Rumors is a story that the Bucs are looking to unload Jason Bay . How about a package with Aaron Heilman as the headliner and a couple of B level minor leaguers for Bay?. Bay had a down year put he is a right handed bat with power and a terrific late inning hitter. In the field he had a strange season with a plus of 13 assists and a minus of 8 errors. Still I’d take a shot on the 30 year old former Mets minor leaguer.
Friend of the site, Pete Abraham had a in his Sunday notes column that the Mets are just waiting for Rudy Jaramillo contract to expire so they can sign him and dump Rickey Henderson. I have to admit it, it looks like I was full of shit when it came to Rickey as the Mets can’t wait to dump him due his bad influence on the younger Mets and his indifference in the clubhouse.

Nothing is going on in Metsvile except for El Duque getting his bunions operated on, I wonder if the Mets sent him to the doctor whose ad I see on the 1 train everyday?
The Highlanders look like they will get pay thru the nose this off season trying to get A-Rod, Mariano and Posada sign to contracts. Of the three it looks like the Mets are poised to go after Jorge Posada the most and may drive the price toward the 3yr/$45 mil mark and let the Highlanders match or top that. Same with Rivera who will most definitely use the Mets to drive up his price to return to the Bronx.
As for A-Rod, I didn’t want him at the price Scott Broas is tossing around, $30 mil a yr for 5 years? No fucking way! In fact just like in 2001 I don’t want him at any price. Guy is not a winner and yes I would take Manny Ramirez over A-Rod any day.
When the post seaon started I didn’t care who won but since I have taken a shine to the Old Town Team. I’ve always been a Manny fan but I’m now enjoying Youkilis and Pedrioa and I’m in awe of Josh Beckett so tonight I’ll be rooting for Dice-K to pitch a whicked game and get the Sawx into the World Series.
