I CAN SEE PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT

Matt Cerrone at MetsBlog .com posts today that Johan Santana has let it be known that he wants to play for the New York Mets. So here we go again as Sanatana becomes the girl we all had a crush on in school flirting, giving us blue balls, and then flirting again.

From what I’m gathering here the Mets hold the lead as Santana has a no trade clause in his contract so even if the Red Sox and Highlanders (no matter what Pack-a-Day Hank says the team from the South Bronx are still active in this hunt) agree on players  Santana could still turn down the trade and force the Twinkies to send him to Flushing. Sure the Twins could just keep him but with all the rhetoric so far Santana becomes a big distraction so why not get what you can from the Mets.

I don’t think the Skill Sets have a problem paying Santana the $20 plus mil a year (they better not because money should never be an issue any more in Flushing as Freddie, Jeffy and Uncle Saul are sitting on a fucking gold mine) it more the years and as you know I don’t like giving more than 3 years to a pitcher but there are exceptions and Johan Santana would be an exception. I was dead set against Barry Zito getting the years and money he wanted and Omar was right in turning his back on that deal but I believe Omar could work a 5yr with 2 yr options and juice up the dough to get Santana here. At this point it may not even cripple the Mets fame system either especially if Santana forces Minnesota to ship him to Queens.

I hope this gets done soon one way or another as I can’t take all this teasing my nuts are killing me!!!!!!

I hope this report is for real.

Mets’ bottom line should be we have to keep one of the two Dominican outfielder kids, and at least one of the three top three young pitcher prospects. And if either Heilman or Perez or Maine gets included, it should really drop the number of prospects included. I mean, a guy that wins you 15, and is young and under contract and happy, is not THAT much below someone that comes in and wins 20, and then the money and long term contract issues…
I would be willing to box Perez and Gomez, I guess, but just the two, no more sweeteners.

I say we package any and all the prospects we can to make this happen. What are we waiting for? So next year we can deal Gomez for another .235 catcher from the Nats??
