The Brewers have DFA Kevin Mench. Mench would make a good tag team partner for Ryan Church as he banged out LHP to the tune of .314/.343/..558 in 156 AB In 70 AB with runners in scoring postition Mench (what a name just for the headlines alone I want him here) hit .329/.375/.571

Steve,
While I’d love the headline, too, let’s have the right side of RF be Gomez (hopefully, he’ll be here). There has got to be a reason why Mench was DFA’ed. Why mess with another veteran cast off? Let’s start a trend of giving the young guys a shot when appropriate. Plus, there’s no defending Gomez’s speed, and he wins hands down over Mench in the OF.
What we have to remember with Gomez is he would have never seen Flushing if not for injuries Let’s allow the young man to refine his came and BE READY to take the everyday job in the outfield no reason to keep him with the big club as a platoon player.
Fair point. I guess I distinguish “bench player”, a bad thing for a kid, and “platoon player”, a good way to acclimate a kid to the big leagues, at least in my mind.
