While we wait for Omar Minaya to put a top flight starter, solid reliever and good right handed bat who can play OF and first base under our Christmas tree  I want to give you a heads up on what we have on SPORTSTALKNY this week and the next few weeks as well.

This Thursday (a special day as we go back to Wednesday next week) at 9PM EST  Neil Best who writes the sports media column for NEWSDAY and the highly informative and funny WATCHDOG blog will be a guest as will Zack Hample who wrote two books How to Snag Major League Baseballs where Zack explains his collecting of baseballs at every ball park he visited and Watching Baseball Smarter where he goes into the inner working of the game on the field.

Next Wednesday December 19^th  Ed Willes author of The Rebel League: History of the World Hockey Association will be a guest. I’m looking forward to this as I remember the New York Raiders who played at Madison Square Garden and their games were on WMCA 570 with believe it or not John Sterling as their play by play man

On Wednesday December 26^th  Denny McLain the last 30 game winner in baseball history will be our guest. This should be a terrific spot as McLain has had quite a life as he lays out in his book I Told You I Wasn’t Perfect. McLain won his 30th games in 1968 on the Game of the Week with Dizzy Dean doing color commentary by beating the Oakland A’s 5-4 on September 14^th 1968
