To think that so many people thought that Roger Clemens was better than Tom Terrific. I always knew that this guy's head ballooned like a hippopottamus after his career was on the down side. All of a sudden he was getting better as he got older. Seaver did it with raw power, guile and talent. When he had nothing left, he left with nothing but pride and respect and incredible memories that I will cherish until I die because I was there after WS Game 5 in '69 when he was the main piston in that Blue and Orange Machine. On the other hand, Clemens career reminds me of a movie I saw when i was a little boy, The Picture of Dorian Gray.In that movie, the main character sells his soul to the devil to remain young forever and it's a picture of him that gets old and decrepit as he peaks at it at times to see what he really looks like as the years go on. Every mortal gets old and dies but he always looks youthful and exhuberant. At the end, he stabs the picture and u see how the he drops dead and starts to age and disintegrate, while the picture becomes the image of his youth. Well Clemens, your picture just got stabbed and now you and your drug-padded statistics will disintegrate just like Dorian Gray. You cocky fool!!!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('25777','Johnny Metsie','To think that so many people thought that Roger Clemens was better than Tom Terrific.
I guess that answers my question as to why the Mets didn't pursue Lo Duca.
Garciaparra??? I just find that hard to believe.

Anyway, now does anyone know the real reason why the Mets were down on Lo Duca? Maybe they knew something we didn't until this afternoon??

Would be nice if we could void Suckinweiss's contract now wouldn't it?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('25658','Frank from Jersey','Garciaparra???
Lying to the FBI is a legal issue. Using steroids is a baseball issue. Anyone who thinks Clemens is less guilty, from a BASEBALL perspective, is dead wrong. He is a scum bag cheater, as guilty as Bonds. He should be denied the HOF and go out in disgrace. The asshole threw a bat at someone, and rage is a side effect of steroids.

Goodbye, asshole Roger.
If Marion Jones had to give back Olympic Medals for her steroid use, what do these guys have to give up? Records? Awards?

spo,

There is one big, HUGE difference between Bonds and Clemens: Bonds lied to the FBI, Clemens did not. I dislike Clemens also and yes, if he took steroids, he should get an asterick too. As far as abuse goes for Barry, he brought it all on himself. He is one of the most nationally hateable characters in sports. I'm so sick and tired of this race card bullshit he spouts. Martha Stewart lied to the Feds and she got jail time so it's not a black / white issue here. Bonds lied to the feds and that's all she has to write.

The part that cracks me up is that these so called sports heros and famous people lie to us and tell us they didn't bet on baseball or they didn't know what the clear or the cream was. Give me a fucking break! I can't believe that there's actually a handful of people outside of San Francisco that believe a sports star in his prime would not know *EXACTLY* what he's putting on or in his body.

You know who I respect? Jason Giambi. Yep, I said it. He told the truth and moved on. Barry had that same chance. Or, we can just blame everyone else. It was Selig's fault, it was his trainer's fault etc etc. Give me a break.

I still get sick to my stomach every time I think about Hank's record being broken by that scumbag.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('25632','Frank from Jersey','spo,\r\n\r\nThere is one big, HUGE difference between Bonds and Clemens: Bonds lied to the FBI, Clemens did not.
I think it is important that after the extraordinary abuse heaped on Barry Bonds, everybody should lambaste each potential hall of fame player on the list. Roger Clemens is a perfect example. If Barry Bonds is the anti christ, then Clemens should be asterisked and called a criminal as well.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('25630','spo','I think it is important that after the extraordinary abuse heaped on Barry Bonds, everybody should lambaste each potential hall of fame player on the list.
