HEY WILLIE, PASS ME THE BLUE AND ORANGE GLASSES PLEASE

Between the Clemens-McNamee fiasco and listening to Willie Randolph try to convince me that the Mets will be a contender this season, there isn’t enough ice in the Artic to soothe my aching head.

The Clemens fiasco just gets more bizarre every day. When a new inspector comes on my job, one of the things I go over with them is testifying in court when the appear to defend a violation they have issued. The first thing I tell them is less is more. The less you say in court the better chance that the violation will be upheld. The more you talk in court the more the odds increase that the case goes the other way. Someone needs to tell that to MF Clemens.

Willie Randolph spoke about the September Not to Remember last night on Mets Hot Stove. Willie feels that the choke job will be behind his team this coming season. Good think Marty Noble was there to slap a little reality into Randolph.

Randolph thinks once the season starts slate is clean, Noble let him know that the first four game losing streak and the natives will be restless and if it happens in September, Flushing will look like Watts in1967.

At this point a mere 40 or so days before pitchers and catchers, I don’t think what the Mets do in September will be a big concern, in fact the way this team looks now Omar Minaya  looks like he will be a seller and not a buyer come July. It looks like that ticket I have for the September 28 game against the Fish will be historic after all.

We have another great lineup ready for SPORTSTALKNY tomorrow night with Ron Blomberg, the former Highlander and very first designated hitter in baseball and now manager of the Bet Shemesh Blue Sox of the Israeli Baseball League and Dan Rooten who played in the league and runs the Spear Center a physical therapy and training center in NYC as guests  We will also cover the Giants win in Tampa on Sunday and their date with the Cowboys this weekend, plus we will discuss the Hall of Fame results, the Clemens fiasco and the Rangers, Knicks, the resurgent Nets, the high flying NJ Devils and the Icelanders, So tune in tomorrow Wednesday January 9 at 9PM EST .

No way this choke job will be behind the Mets entering the season.

After last September and if the Mets are sellers in July, it’s possible that Willie will NOT be around THIS September.

“the way this team looks now Omar Minaya looks like he will be a seller and not a buyer come July”

    Steve, you really think that??

I think that this coming year, things could go either way but will be better than last year even though most of the guilty suspects are still here. Injuries are going to play the largest role. If we can keep them down to a minimum, we should be o.k. The only thing that the Phils and Braves have that we don’t is a real solid 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation. I’d love to have Cole Hamels and Brit Meyers at the top or Hudson and Smoltz. An ailing Petey and a “what the hell happened after the all star break” John Maine doesn’t give me that warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

Anyway, I think the theme this year is going to be to play hard all the time and if anyone gets caught doing anything to the contrary, I would hope they get called to the managers office and chewed out. These players better realize that they will go down in history as one of the biggest choke artist teams ever and they better all be focused getting their respect back.

My uncle is a huge Skankee fan and the last few years were great being able to rub in his face about the yankees historic series loss to the sox by getting swept the last 4 games. Thank you Mets for now letting my uncle torture me for the rest of my life because or your pathetic lackadasical effort last year.

Anyone else here feel like you wasted hundreds of hours of their life watching a team last year that had no heart and just didn’t seem to care? I’ll be honest, if they start out slow, I’m not watching them. I’m not a fair weather fan but I will NOT waste my life watching them if they continue to show no life.
