LONG COLD WINTER CONTINUES

With 25 days until pitchers and catchers report to Port St Lonesome, the off season of our discontent crawls on. Sure Aaron Heilman settling for a million and change is good news but Jose Valentin? Seriously? I know it’s just a minor league deal but is this Omar’s idea of solidifying the bench? We all know that ‘Stache as a bench player is non-productive and with Jose Castillo firmly entrenched at 2nd base  the only position ‘Stache should be up for is infield coach.

I’m very much down on Minaya this off season as he has done nothing to improve this team and the one area that they need the help- a right handed bat who can play first base- has not been addressed.

The only thing that could save Minaya from a good Kranepool Society thrashing will be to bring the lefty from Venezuela to Shea and I don’t mean Hugo Chavez.

Enjoy Championship Sunday everyone, and I don’t know if you heard but it’s cold in Green Bay. No shit really!

I have been down on Omar since last yr. (Beat you to the punch… hehehehe). I still believe that he if did not fire Willie then the whole coaching staff should have been fired. Whats with Alou playing the OF again for us. I guess Omar can not find anyone else. I am OK with the infield and catching situation. I would have tried to trade for Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
Omar knows that if nothing occurs this year he will be looking for a new in DR. He needs to pull the trigger for Santana and hope for the best!!!!

    From rotoworld.com:

“Is it any wonder Heilman wants to be a starter or a closer? He’s posted a 3.27 ERA in 281 innings the last three years, yet he does no better here than he would have if he had a 5.00 ERA in 400 innings as a starting pitcher.”

    The Man,

was a good recap, it’s ashame a couple of those guys had to be a little harsh with grammer. I also don’t think we’re getting Santana. I still think we’re an 88 win team but of course I hope I’m wrong and we’re better. Lastly, I think your predictions are a little high on those stats and I didn’t see Wright or Reyes in there but I may have missed…only time will tell!

Considering Omar’s affection for Sosa - any chance he brings Sammy to Shea to compete for some RF playing time? Maybe a minor league deal to make the club? I’m not a big Sosa fan, but he’s a right handed bat, and 609 HRs coming off the bench would be a good thing.
