JOHAN IS OURS, AND HE’S SPECTACULAR

7 years $150 million dollars and JOHAN SANTANA IS A MET.

First, let me apologize to Omar Minaya for not trusting his general managerial skills. And let me tip my Mets cap to Freddy Skill Sets for paying out this kind of scratch. No more Freddy Coupons

And here  I thought that was rain today in NYC instead it was tears of joys from Mets fans past

    Great day in Mets ville. It is the Seaver trade in reverse. We have reason for optimism, instead of misery like on 6/15/77. And yes, they made us sweat. Like you’ve said, it’s never easy. The extension, the whole process…But on 3/31/08, who’s gonna give a shit? We have Johan, the best pitcher on the planet. And we can begin what I hope will be the process of erasing last year. For the first time in months, we, Mets fans, can be happy! Yes!!!

    How about Harold Reynolds saying that the mets may get their first no-hitter! After 46 years, seems unlikely…But he could be right!

    That would really complete your comment, Rich — Seaver trade in reverse — since it has always been that they pitch their no-hitters after leaving the Mets, instead of upon arriving. Of course, the most dramatic case was Nolan Ryan fastballing seven no-no’s after leaving the Mets, but Seaver, Gooden, Cone (perfect game), Mike Scott, etc…. unbelievable!

    Johnny Maine almost got us one just at the end of the season…maybe he gets there before Santana…

    Man, am I happy!!

    Good point, David. It is about time we get a no no. For a franchise that has essentially been built on pitching, we’ve waited long enough. Johan can do it, but in typical Mets fashion, watch it be Perez who does it. Something unexpected and something unpredictable, that’s why we’re Mets fans. Never a dull moment.

    Great news for sure. To also be able to keep Fernando Martinez a nice bonus. Of course, only time will tell the impact that he will have on the team and the durability of his arm. If Moises goes down and/or Delgado can not regain his form then Johan will not be enough.

    I’m sure I’m the only one who feels this way but regarding the no-no, it would be so much sweeter if a home grown player did it than a hired gun. Don’t get me wrong, i would still be extremely excited but I’d much rather see Pelfry do it than Santana or Martinez or Perez or even Maine.

    Omar must’ve held Jeffy by his Ankles from a Shea Upper Level Ramp:

    It worked & Johann is ours;

    How will Tim Mc Fullof–it mispronounce Johann’s Name? Any Guesses?
