i'm so SICK of delgado-
what more do the mets need to see?

game after game last year- runners on base, he swings on pathetic high and inside pitches, and if he Gets a hit, it's dribbler between first and second.
he broke his hand swinging and a ridiculous high and in pitch

NO MAS!
Reply - Quote

Can he be groomed for first base in case Delgado goes MIA? Our prospects at 1B are not exactly can’t miss blue-chippers.

I'm with Steve, too. I love this team, but it is an OLD team, very susceptible to injuries. They have already begun. If you think Delgado is out for the last time with the hip, think again. He may miss two months all totaled with this one. It bothers the guy when he swings, for goodness sake...Alou-just a matter of time. Problem is now some of the younger guys are going down (Schneider, Church, and Anderson-he's 34). And PLEASE folks, can we stop with the Nady love fest? This guy is a below average fielder at all positions he plays, and probably a .265 hitter. He's an ok reserve, not the next to part the red sea. Why do so many fans love an average player who was here for 4 months?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('53666','Rich','I\'m with Steve, too.
They need to trade for Nady and make him the 4th outfielder playing 2 x week and playing 1st 2x a week . If Delgado goes down, then he plays 1st base
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('53655','Rob','They need to trade for Nady and make him the 4th outfielder playing 2 x week and playing 1st 2x a week .
I'm on Steve's side here, i'm in major panic mode. You might also want to add Santana's rocky first start. Yes I know it was only 2 innings and only his first start but none the less, is ominous.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('53654','Frank from Jersey','I\'m on Steve\'s side here, i\'m in major panic mode.
Let's see the first baseman who had health problems last year and had a fall off in his numbers is already sidelined by a chronic hip problem a week into spring training, our CF'er hasn't been on the field yet, the LF'er is ALWAYS hurt, the RF'er has a concusion and is out a minimum of 2 weeks, our catcher has a sore groin after 3 games our late inning reliever has soreness after one apperence, our #2 starter hasn't pitched yet in the first week of the season, our 5th starter has a foot problem that bothered him last year and still hasn't taken the mound, we still have the major need for a right handed bat off the bench but I shouldn't worry I should just drink the Omar Kool Aid right Bob? Just remember this the last 17 games of last season all the Mets had to do was play one game under .500 and the Phillies had to go 16-1 JUST TO TIE THEM!!!! How did that workout there sunshine? Yeah I'm a pesimsit 46 years of watching Mets baseball does that to a person
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('53646','kranepool','Let\'s see the first baseman who had health problems last year and had a fall off in his numbers is already sidelined by a chronic hip problem a week into spring training, our CF\'er hasn\'t been on the field yet, the LF\'er is ALWAYS hurt, the RF\'er has a concusion and is out a minimum of 2 weeks, our catcher has a sore groin after 3 games our late inning reliever has soreness after one apperence, our #2 starter hasn\'t pitched yet in the first week of the season, our 5th starter has a foot problem that bothered him last year and still hasn\'t taken the mound, we still have the major need for a right handed bat off the bench but I shouldn\'t worry I should just drink the Omar Kool Aid right Bob?
BiG Bob is right, Steve, Yes we Can, yes we can!

But you are right too... things are not breaking our way aT the moment, a lot of haze that has to clear.

My suggestion for Delgado is get a smaller bat and start thinking gappers, hit both ways to neutralize the shift, and he would still bang out 20 plus homers, my guess. Glad his MRI was negative.

He is a class-act individual, Delgado, I believe in the guy and am pulling for him to contribute, less like Delgado of old, maybe more Steve Garvey mold.

Or Steady Eddie...?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('53642','David in Manhattan','BiG Bob is right, Steve, Yes we Can, yes we can!\r\n\r\nBut you are right too... things are not breaking our way aT the moment, a lot of haze that has to clear.\r\n\r\nMy suggestion for Delgado is get a smaller bat and start thinking gappers, hit both ways to neutralize the shift, and he would still bang out 20 plus homers, my guess.
If you were more negative than your comments I would say you were NOT a MET fan. There were no positive thoughts in your message. Get real my friend. Every team has their share of injuries and the METS will find a way to overcome all of them. Think positive and stop putting a negative spin on everything.
