So after a days rest the Mets will welcome the Washington Nationals to Shea and as part of the salute to Jackie Robinson players from both teams will wear the number 42 on their jerseys.
Odalis Perez pitches for the Nats tonight against Big Pelf and hopefully this will get Gimp Castillo’ bat going as Castillo is 9/22 lifetime vs. Perez. Maybe What Me Worry Willie will look at the digits and play Endy Chavez tonight and take advantage of Chavez 4/13 .308 average against Odalis.
Pelfrey hopes to build off his last start and will have to maneuver around Austin Kearns (5/11) and Ryan Zimmerman ( 4/11) the two Nats who have the most success against Pelf.
Dirty Duaner should be back tonight in the over worked bullpen and Kranepool Society favorite, Carlos Muniz heads back to NOLA.
I love these stories on what will happen to Angel Pagan when Moises Alou comes back. Are you kidding? Granpa Moises won’t be back, the earliest end of May do let’s worry about it then.Â
 Â
Matt Wise will linger on the DL as the Mets are in no rush to activate him same with Ramon Castro as Raul Casanova might just steal the back up job from RC.
Time for me to piss in your corn flakes. There is an article up on The Hardball Times on Brian Bannister showing his multitude of pitches and how he has become a top line starter. You think anyone on the Mets staff has the stones to print it out and leave it on Omar’s desk?
According to a story in the NY Post it looks like Petey won’t be back until June. WOW he must be acelling the rehab. I still say after the All Star break is a better bet.
The Dodgers hosted a night for Dodger bloggers last week and one of the bloggers writes about the experience. I cannot see the Mets ever doing something like this. Nick Colletti the Dodger GM met with the bloggers and when one of them took out a pad and pen and began writing, Colletti asked that anything discussed would be off the record. Dodgers owner Frank McCourt also came by to chat as did Tommy Lasorda. There are teams that embrace the blogger community like the
Collin Campbell and the NHL Office can kiss mine and all Rangers fans Blueshirt ass when it comes with this new ruling over Sean Avery. As I write this I am wearing my AVERY 16 t-shirt just to let you know where I’m coming from. What Avery did to Marty Broduer was not bush league or dirty, is was genius. Only a guy with the cajones like Avery would ever do a thing like that. So because he is brilliant he gets punished by that Clueless Campbell.  Oh and get over yourselves Devil fans, both of you.

“Castillo is 9/22 lifetime vs. Perez. Maybe What Me Worry Willie will look at the digits and play Endy Chavez tonight and take advantage of Chavez 4/13 .308 average against Odalis”
– is there anyone in the league that is not hitting over .300 against Odalis? (same goes for Pelfry though)
“I love these stories on what will happen to Angel Pagan when Moises Alou comes back. Are you kidding? Granpa Moises won’t be back, the earliest end of May do let’s worry about it then”
– by the time Alou is ready to come back, Pagan will be hitting around .249 with not so great numbers all around (just my prediction)
“There is an article up on The Hardball Times on Brian Bannister showing his multitude of pitches and how he has become a top line start”
– The Mets must have the all time record, by far, of letting players go who then turned into excellent players. I guess this would be the bad trade category? Hmm lets see, this is what our rotation could look like: Santana, Kazmir, Maine, Perez, Bannister.
It’s only a matter of time before Millege is a .300 40 125 guy and I’m sure Gotay will become an all star somewhere.
Petey back in June? Yeah right. People are probably afraid to sneeze around this guy anymore. I love Petey too and wish he came back today but that is just a pipe dream.
I’m afraid to even turn the game on tonight because i’m sure it will be ugly. The Mets have no heart. I have always been against the Willie signing and that thought gets stronger every day. I like the guy as a person but I really think he is out of his league as a manager. I would offer Keith Hernandez or Carter or Hojo the job. I know that sounds crazy, especially keith but he tells it like he sees it with no fluff and I love that. I think the team needs that. This team needs some life injected into it, some enthusiasm and excitement. We have good players, we just need a real manager to bring it out in them.
It’s amazing how much life the Mets seem to have when (a) they get a decently pitched game and (b) when Reyes hits.
I suspect that you’re right, Frank, that Pagan’s star will fade over the next month or so. But the whole discussion is ridiculous. I can’t see Alou playing more than half the games from June 1-Sep 30.
As for Avery, well, I don’t know. In the old days someone on NJ would have decked him, but good. Have the rules changed to the point where teams are afraid of doing this now? I mean, he’s just asking to be beaten up there.
Anyway, taunting is one thing, but raising the stick is another. I don’t think he should have raised his stick to Brodeur’s face.
Sweetness at Shea last night, and if Reyes is truly back to his early 2007 form, then the Mets will be making a move to take over the Divsion. Which is ripe to be taken over by someone. Maine can keep it going tonight.
What a timely boost from Pelfrey, and David Wright is pounding the ball, now Dirty Sanchez is back in the bullpen after the two-year hiatus, oh yeah.
As for Avery, I consider that play bush-league, not hockey. Similar to A-Rod yelling “I got it” as he runs past the infielder. It could be technically legal, but diminishes the game. I like the Rangers, and they did deliver us a championship in the nineties…one of the very few among my under-performing teams (Mets, Jets, Knicks, Rangers) but the style of hockey I favor is Olympic-style, emphasizing skills and hustle, instead of the brawl.
Hey, did you went to my new Mets website called Mets Magic Team. We could talk there and you could leave a comment on the chat box or comment section.
