It was nice of the Mets to give out foam fingers yesterday as the finger the fans have been using so far this season was cramping up. There were no fingers extended yesterday as it was also Turn Back The Clock Day as Carlos Delgado went Blue Jay on the Braves yesterday with two round trippers. Kudos to Delgado for NOT stepping out of the dugout for a curtain call I have more respect for him now that he DIDN’T come out than if he did. Seriously Mets fans, what do you expect, the guy gets the shit booed out of him and fans call up Joe Bada Bing and his little side kick to scream that he’s finished and then you want him to take a bow? If I were Delgado I’d come out waving my own foam finger.
Two out of three from the Braves is nice but now the Mets must dominate the Bucs and take three from them. Tonight’s game looks like a wash out especially with Johan Santana getting the start against object of my off season affection Ian Snell, so it looks like a two game series coming up. You want to go in with guns blazing this weekend into Phoenix and then LA where you can prove to your fan base that you’re a legit contender so until I see what our Mets do this weekend I’ll save my finger waving.
What you’re surprised about the latest injury news on Moises Alou? Alou is in
Matt Wise, Paging Matt Wise!
Second straight start for Figgy that he could not get past 5 innings but at least this one was a win. In his last 10 1/3 IP Nelson Figueroa has given up 14 hits 6 runs all earned and walked 8 and K’d 5. That’s why Claudio Vargas has been promoted to NOLA.
I’m not ready to offer a full apology to Omar Minaya over the
You would think that Ramon Castro would get his fat ass in gear with the sudden surge from Raul Casanova to get back and regain his backup catcher’s job. Castro never ever rises to the challenge when either Mike Piazza or Paul LoDuca went down with injuries. If anything, pick up a first base mans glove and show some damn initiative
As per Neil Best, he was at the Tribeca Film Festival and watched a film made by three NYU Students called “The Zen of Bobby V’ in which the three film makers followed Bobby Valentine for eight months in

Could not disagree with you more. What do you mean good for carlos delgado. What team and players actually fights with the fans. Are you they serious. This bum is making what 16 million dollars, and was hitting .190 with 1 knock coming inot yesterday.
I miss the real ball players with class like Mike Piazza. Remember when he first came to the metsies. Go the shat booed out of him, then when he produced became the darling of the city. He didn’t fight the fans he accepted it…
That what NY is all about. Play hard and play well! You don’t want to get booed, it’s a simple formula, but mr. delgado is playing with fire here and it’s a fight he wont’ win, i can tell you that….If the team can’t understand why met fans are angry then they don’t belong here. After a historic collapse and lackadasical attitude is not a good combo and easy to swallow.
Your the best Eddie!
Gregg
Delgado will take a curtain call when he feels he is contributing, but not after one good game in the middle of a bad season so far. He knew on Sunday that he did not deserve that curtain call as yet.
That said, it really does bother me that Mets fans are now so associated with booing the players. The only time a player should be booed is for lack of hustle, then, ok. Some assholes actually booed Santana after his first outing.
But does anyone really think that booing motivates the players to perform better. If you are 0 for 18, does a chorus of boos help you to focus better? I think just the opposite. it creates more stress, lack of confidence, uncertainty, anger, and reaction against the fans. As for the fans who boo their players, I consider it just plain mean. Booing the oppositon is legit, as long as it is not with real venom…it adds to the ballpark dynamic and the homefield advantage. But booing our own players? When they are doing, just like anyone else, their best? I don´t like it. Let the Phillies fans and the Highlander fans be the mean ones, not our fans.
And of course, it makes it harder for the Mets to attract the players we want here. Who wants to hear it, when things go bad, from the hometown fans, who should be backing you up?
And people wonder why the Mets were the only team in the major leagues last year to have a better road record than home record. They were boo’d less on the road than at home. Hell, on the road, the opposing fans probably felt sorry for them and didn’t boo them at all.
