And people wonder why the Mets were the only team in the major leagues last year to have a better road record than home record. They were boo'd less on the road than at home. Hell, on the road, the opposing fans probably felt sorry for them and didn't boo them at all.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('60387','Frank from Jersey'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('60387','Frank from Jersey','And people wonder why the Mets were the only team in the major leagues last year to have a better road record than home record.

Delgado will take a curtain call when he feels he is contributing, but not after one good game in the middle of a bad season so far. He knew on Sunday that he did not deserve that curtain call as yet.

That said, it really does bother me that Mets fans are now so associated with booing the players. The only time a player should be booed is for lack of hustle, then, ok. Some assholes actually booed Santana after his first outing.

But does anyone really think that booing motivates the players to perform better. If you are 0 for 18, does a chorus of boos help you to focus better? I think just the opposite. it creates more stress, lack of confidence, uncertainty, anger, and reaction against the fans. As for the fans who boo their players, I consider it just plain mean. Booing the oppositon is legit, as long as it is not with real venom…it adds to the ballpark dynamic and the homefield advantage. But booing our own players? When they are doing, just like anyone else, their best? I don´t like it. Let the Phillies fans and the Highlander fans be the mean ones, not our fans.

And of course, it makes it harder for the Mets to attract the players we want here. Who wants to hear it, when things go bad, from the hometown fans, who should be backing you up?

Could not disagree with you more. What do you mean good for carlos delgado. What team and players actually fights with the fans. Are you they serious. This bum is making what 16 million dollars, and was hitting .190 with 1 knock coming inot yesterday.

I miss the real ball players with class like Mike Piazza. Remember when he first came to the metsies. Go the shat booed out of him, then when he produced became the darling of the city. He didn't fight the fans he accepted it...
That what NY is all about. Play hard and play well! You don't want to get booed, it's a simple formula, but mr. delgado is playing with fire here and it's a fight he wont' win, i can tell you that....If the team can't understand why met fans are angry then they don't belong here. After a historic collapse and lackadasical attitude is not a good combo and easy to swallow.

Your the best Eddie!
