As I have said for the last couple years now, we need to at least give him 3 or so starts and see what he does. If he does well, great, he's made the rotation. If not, we say, "see, told you that you're a better reliever than starter" and at least maybe he'll have some piece of mind.

Personally, We are going to need starting pitching next year and why not give him a shot instead of giving up on him cause of a bad stretch. Start teaching him a curveball or something else too. If we keep him where he's at and he has a crappy year and then we let him go, then the Mets will have made yet another bad move IMHO.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('65524','Frank from Jersey','As I have said for the last couple years now, we need to at least give him 3 or so starts and see what he does.
As I've said before, Heilman is just done here. He seemingly is unhappy with his role, thinks of himself as a starter, and will never be one here (as long as the current regime is in place). So, rather than force fit him in and watch him pout, why not just deal him while we can get something and before he goes FA? He'd never re-sign, and he is not doing us any good.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('65432','Rich','As I\'ve said before, Heilman is just done here.
With regards to Heilman, who is to say it isn't physical? I haven't heard that the Mets have given him an extensive physical lately. The game of baseball is filled with players who "lost it", with no known reason until after the fact. The case of a certain "Tug" McGraw comes to mind. The Mets gave up on him and never noticed as baseball sized tumor in his shoulder? Before assuming he just sucks I think all possibiliteis need to be examined.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('65386','Steve','With regards to Heilman, who is to say it isn\'t physical?
