WHERE HAVE YOU GONE JEFFY WILPON, METS NATION TURNS IT’S LONELY EYES TO YOU

Yeah I’m late with today’s post but really what is there to write about? Between losing to Tom Glavine, a guy who couldn’t find the fucking onions to win a big game on the last day of the season but now that he has his beloved BRAVES plastered back on his chest finds the guts to pitch well, the self-initiated bullshit that Willie Randolph brought on himself, the sleepwalking ways of this mediocre team I root for plus my little league team which is now 1-7 and a bunch of parents who say “here teach my kid how to play baseball” and head off to the mall, I am in one really foul fucking mood. More than my usual “get off my lawn you little bastards” mood that I’m usually in.

I would love to make nice with Jeffy Wilpon just to sit with him and plead my case to address his team. A day like today would be perfect so Jeffy if your reading this, let’s burry the hatchet (not in each other’s back okay) and let’s work together to get this team back on track. Let me in that clubhouse and be the bad cop. First let me talk to Omar to let him know it’s time to make a move, a bold move not just a trade Aaron Heilman move which needs to be done, but how about bringing up Nick Evans from Bingo and tell Carlos Delgado that he is now the left handed part of the first base platoon. Evans is not on the 40 man roster but you could put a guy like Jason Vargas on the 60 day DL or even release Anderson Hernandez and bring up Evans. How bad could Evans be over Delgado? It’s one thing that Delgado can’t hit for shit anymore, but he is fucking dreadful at first base ENOUGH!!!!!!. Next, put out some feelers on Carlos Beltran. I don’t really want to trade him but I would be curious to see if someone is interested in him and if a deal could be made it should be explored. After Omar has done this he needs to lock himself in a room with Tony Bernazard, John Rico, Sandy Johnson, Adam Wogan, and Rafael Perez along with all the information from their scouts and all the video tape and if you need to gas up Air Wilpon to go see a prospect in Eastbubblefuck then do it. This draft is the most important amateur draft since the early 80’s for this franchise with 3 picks in the first 100 selections, DO NOT FUCK THIS UP!

Now send me over to Willie Randolph so I can grab him by the shirt and ask him one simple message, DO YOU ENJOY YOUR JOB? YOU DO? THEN STOP WHINNING LIKE A LITTLE SCHOOL GIRL AND BUT YOUR BELT ON AND BE A MAN AND FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THIS TEAM GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look Willie is unbelievably paranoid and is starting to took like he is not fit to serve as manager so if your going to go down, go down fighting. It’s time to use that bench to get through his players. Delgado needs a few days on the bench and even Carlos Beltran could use a day or two on the pine. The one guy who busts his ass, Ryan Church will be out now with concussion (there is no such thing as a mild concussion by the way a concussion is a concussion and it’s serious especially now that this is the second one he’s suffered in less than two months) Willie has to challenge these guys so if some of these underachievers have to sit the bench then so be it.

Back to Ryan Church for a minute, Yes I was wrong about Church and Brian Schneider the deal was a heist by Omar (I’m still a L Millz fan though I’m just waiting for the “grown man” light to go on in his head, if it does he will fulfill all that was thought he could do if not he’ll be a hanger on with wasted talent) but he suffered a serious injury yesterday and the Mets are reporting him as day to day which is irresponsible of the Mets organization. The man suffered his second concussion in two months and if they leave it up to Church he will come back tomorrow, because he’s a gamer. The Mets need to take the decision out of his hands and put him on the 15 day DL. Let one of these gold brickers step up and pick up the slack.

Memo to Lee Mazzilli, the Mets are a .500 team. (from last June to today over 153 games the Mets are 76-77) Last night on the post game show Matt Snoozoff asked Mermaid Avenue Mazzilli if the Mets were what their record said it was, a .500 team. Lincoln High Lee gave Snoozoff an “Are you kidding me”? look (just as they rehearsed it) and Mazz said “no way not with the talent they have this is a very good club” and there goes the B64 bus that Willie was just thrown under by Boardwalk Lee.

Most long time readers know I am not the biggest Mike Piazza fan in the world. I just never cared for his attitude as he was too aloof for my taste plus he never came off as a guy who connected with the fans. All that said the statement he made today in the paper announcing his retirement moved him up on my list. It was the greatest off field move I’ve ever seen Piazza do. He thanked every one who helped him get to the big leagues. His biggest thank you was saved for the New York Mets organization and Mets fans who he called the “greatest and most loyal in baseball” He also gave big thanks to Mets clubhouse manager Charlie Samuels which I feel show tons of class. Like I say I was never a big Piazza rooter but he really shined in that statement. Bravo Mike!!!!

The highlight of watching last night’s Mets game was listening to Keith Hernandez talk about jumping in a gully with his bathing suit on during a tornado and catching poison oak and then sitting in the last seat of the last row and the Ted with Kevin Burkhart. It seems now I tune into Mets games just to hear Gary, Keith and Ron. By the way I received my Gary, Keith and Ron t-shirts yesterday and wore the one with all the fans on it. Click on the Gary, Keith and Ron link on the right and buy a t shirt as it will get hot one of these days so you’ll need one of these for your summer wardrobe. Plus all proceeds go to charity so dig deep folks.

I know we are all in a bad mood today, but what happened to the influence you said seeing the Pope had on your choice of words???

Steve, you said, “Now send me over to Willie Randolph so I can grab him by the shirt and ask him one simple message, DO YOU ENJOY YOUR JOB? YOU DO? THEN STOP WHINNING LIKE A LITTLE SCHOOL GIRL AND BUT YOUR BELT ON AND BE A MAN AND FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THIS TEAM GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Mine would go like this: “Hello Willie, have a seat. As you know, last year, we should have won the division by a landslide but we did not because of the lackidasical(sp) play and pure listlessness of a team full of all-stars and you did nothing to get this team motivated to at least play up to your potential thereby causing the so called greatest collapse in modern baseball. As you also probably know, we should have fired your ass for that last year but we gave you 1 more chance. Well, we are now almost a third into the season and nothing has changed even after we got you arguably the best pitcher in the league. You have failed as our manager. Good-bye. (Wilpon yells to secretary) O.k., bring in our new manager, Steve Keane! Oh, before you go Willie, please don’t take any jobs as a motivational speaker.”

Yeah, that was corny but managers have been canned for a LOT less that what Willie has accomplished in the last 12 months. The only reason we did anything in 2006 was because the team was younger and hadn’t yet felt the dulling effects of Willie.

Matt: As I’ve said I have a standing penance with my parish priest due to profanity, so I spend a lot of time praying plus Jesus himself would curse if he were a Mets fan (we all know he roots for the Angels)

Frank, I accept the job thank you very much. My first task as manager is to bring Gimp Castillo into my office. I’ll ask Gimp which of his knees hurt the most and then I will whack the other knee with a Lousiville Slugger so he can go on the DL. I might even bring Carlos Beltran in the office to witness this event and tell him “Your next”.

Steve, you’re one funny man. Anyway, I have no such dispensation from my priest, but I will say anyway that THEY ARE FUCKING HORRIBLE! And now, oh yes, Mr. alou is back to NY for an MRI. Jeff, are youy happy that your GM saw fit to give Mr. Brittle another year? I don’t give a shit if it was $8 million, a “bargain” price. Every fan of your team, Jeff, saw this coming. But, Mr. Brilliant GM insisted that we must drive the average age over 35 and sign Mr. Alou. Yep, he’ll hit .333 in 60-70 games. The fact this organization finds this type of return on investment acceptable is exactly the problem. We’ll pay a guy not to play. We’ll be content with .500.

Want to see the problem, Jeff? look in the mirror. The organization as an inferiority complex, to a point where it finds 48-year-old pinch hitters and fragile 41 year-olds to be good strategic moves. Wake up, Jeff. Your fans want more real players, like Church. Guys who want to play hurt. Guys who give a shit. Like I’ve always said, even if you don’t give a shit, if you’re taking my money, lie to me and play like you do.

I don’t have your panache for expressing anger and frustration, but I think Omar is really more of an issue than is Willie. Willie might have cost the Mets 5 or 6 wins last year and same again this year, but I think Omar has cost the Mets the better part of the next three years with all the big contracts and, AND, his failure to restock the farm system.
