As tough as I can be on my favorite team I’m sure the players and management of the rest of the NL East watched last nights Mets-Dodgers game and let out a collective “AH SHIT” in watching the Mets beat the Dodgers. That’s wins in 5 of the last 6 and 6 of the last 9 games for Willie’s Big Boys as he like to call them and now it’s off to the San Francisco and San Diego as we Mets fans become sleep deprived for the rest of the week .
Think about this, after a week of wondering if the manager was going to get the ax and if the players had any guts our new dilemma is too many pitchers and not enough spots. It seems from reading the news stories today that Carlos Muniz is safe and it’s between Big Pelf and Claudio Vargas as who stays and who goes. It seems to me they will let Vargas go on wavers and hope he passes through and then assign him to NOLA. If that’s what Willie wants as it’s seems
Willie is so at ease this last week that the transformation is incredible. His post game press conference has gone from hostage tape to Last Comic Standing proportion. Willie is joking and laughing and just looking well, like a guy who was told you’re our manager this year and next so go out and manage.
Giants are sending a young lefty out to the mound tonight in Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez is a strike out pitchers who throws a heavy sinking fastball and a descent slider and he excels at pitching in
Reyes
Easley
Wright
Beltran
Church
Castro
Tatis
Evans
Perez
Yup all righties except for Church get the nod tonight if I were in charge. The only leftie in the Giants pen is Jack Taschner and he is more LOOGY than anything so if Sanchez comes out then you can unleash Delgado, Chavez and Schneider off the bench.

Steve,
Haven’t you seen enough of Evans? I just think the kid is overmatched and the only thing that can happen is that his confidence gets ruined. I say send him back, let him develop, and get Pagan healthy. Pagan is the perfect 5th OF. Speed, switch hitter, can play all 3 (though a little advertureously). I think Angel would be happy to be a 5th OF on a good team.
Yes, this past week has been a nice change to what we all expected but I’m certainly not ready to call the Mets “cured” yet, not even close. These Mets are the real deal when it comes to heartbreakers. Whatever nice winning streak they put together will be followed by an equal losing streak. If they win 8 out of 9, they will surely then go on to lose 9 out of the next 10. I would be completely UNsurprised to see the Giants and Padres each take 2 or 3 from us. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see Barry Zito pitch a no hitter against us.
Sorry for the doom and gloom but I need a lot more proof.
Rich,
Once Medicare Moises comes back Nick Evans goes back to Bingo and I agree he looks overmatched but so does Delgado and besides Evans reminds me of Dave Magadan both facialy and in his stance I wish he could hit like Mags though.
Ah Frank, here I am getting ready to be sleep deprive for the week and going to Tatum O’Neals house to watch the games and have some laughs hoping it will be worth it and you have to be a realist.
LOL I remember when they were comparing Magadan to Olerud back in the early 90’s.
Mags is one of my all-time favorite Mets. Solid hitter, solid citizen, decent at 1B and 3B with the glove. I never will forgive Torborg for not seeing the guy’s value. I think Medicare comes off Thursday. I say he’s back on by the Highlander series. Sorry to be negative but I’m so done with that guy.
