SCOTT BORAS SUICIDE WATCH

What The fuck.  Really what can else can you say besides Oliver Perez is gutless. I hate to say that about OP because I see a live arm that should be able to compete but it just seems like Perez doesn’t not have the “Skill Sets” to compete at the major league level.  In his last 10 starts going back to April 13 when his ERA was 3.38 in the next 48 1/3 innings he’s walked 39 batters and struck out 40 but his starts average less than 5 innings and his ERA has skyrocketed to 5.70. From the look on Willie Randolph’s face the leash on Ollie is not only short but it has a choker on it as well.  Really, how do you face your teammates after that choke job if your Perez after you got to SF a day earlier than the rest of the team and you know they are dragging ass after the arriving at 4:30 in the morning. I’m sure Omar Minaya was dialing the agent for Freddy Garcia after that debacle.  I just can’t get over the fact that even though he had nothing he showed no guts whatsoever in trying to get through that first inning. I don’t want to say he didn’t care but I just think he’s not conscience of what’s going on around him I guess what I’m saying Perez has no clue on how to pitch. How many more starts does he get? I’m sure Willie would love to cut his sorry ass right now but I don’t think Omar is ready for that yet but another awful start like last night you’d have to entertain the thought.

Lost in the Ollie Perez disaster is the fact that Claudio Vargas pitched like a real man in relief and that can only lead to more discussion of what to do with Perez. How can you keep Vargas in the pen and keep giving starts to OP?  Not only that because of this awful performance there is now big time pressure on Big Pelf to come up with a quality start in his next assignment. Notice I said quality start which is what, six innings and four runs allowed? Is that too much to ask?

The Mets signed Raul Gonzalez to a minor league deal; can Gerald Williams be far behind?

Okay I’m ready to step off the Nick Evans bandwagon and admit that he is overmatched by big league pitching.

The New York baseball fan is looking at one of the most interesting nights in a long time as the Highlanders break out Joba Chamberlain tonight in his first start against Roy Halladay and the Blue Jays and our very own Petey goes against the Giants tonight in SF. This should be a two Manhattan Special night for me. By the way the caffeine rush I ingested last night did not go to waste as I watched one of the great hockey games I’ve seen in quite some time as the Pittsburgh Penguins came back to win Game 5 in Triple OT last night in Detroit. Now the Finals go back to Pittsburgh with the younger Penguins more able to bounce back from that grueling game.

As you know I’m a fan of the Boston Celtics and I am ecstatic that they beat the Pistons especially taking the Eastern Conference crown in the Dump at Auburn Hills. I should be sky high over the Celtics-Lakers Finals as it’s an old time rivalry with a lot of venom attached to it. The problem is the NBA is a corrupt league with crooked and inept referees If Joey Crawford officiates any of the games of this Final then I‘ll know that David Stern has given up on his league. With that said I’m still holding out hope that the C’s can continue to played tough D and that between Paul Pierce and James Posey they contain Kobe and that Doc allows Leon Powe and Big Baby to get some playing time to throw around some muscle on the Lakers. The big advantage is the Celts have the home court advantage and games 6 and 7 are schedule for the “Gahrden” also I have my Red Aurabach  tribute t-shirt ready so lets say Celtics in 7 for Championship 17.

First, about the Mets, I’m not going to say I told you so but my prediction is already coming through with the Mets losing 10-2 against a woeful Giants club. Again, I hope I’m wrong and I can’t wait to see Pedro pitch tonight.

A quality start is 6 ip and 3 runs or less. Pretty sad in baseball today when a 4.50 ERA is considered “quality”.

Lastly, about the Celtics and Lakers venom: I admit I don’t follow basketball on any level although I think college basketball blows the NBA away but were any of the current players on these 2 teams even alive when there was a rivalry? Maybe I’m just an old fart but Pro sports just don’t seem the same anymore. There is nothing exciting about boxing any more, same with tennis (where are you Bjorn and Conners?). Football is Patriots and everyone else, baseball is a bunch of cry baby over paid prima donnas etc etc. There are no more REAL rivalries like the Yankees and Dodgers or the Lakers and Celtics IMHO. Players today don’t even admit there is a rivalry. I’m going off on another tangent, so I’ll quit ranting now. I love my job I love my job etc etc

Oh yeah, HAHAHAHA Scott Bor-ass. You’re right, Steve, you know after last year of OPerez he saw $$$$ in free agency. I just love when he gets screwed but when the day is over, he’s still laughing at the little people like me. He still lives in a mansion, driving Lexus’ and eating caviar.

Sad thing is about Perez is even though he’s probably gonna go something like 10-15 with a 5.00 ERA, he will still get a 4 year $40mil contract from someone.

I guess Ollie should have taken that offer from Omar in the winter…

Pedro told Ed Coleman that on the flight west, he and Ollie didn’t talk much. Perez was too busy playing with his Nintendo.

That about sums up Perez, no?

Popper’s article in the Record said Ollie was playing Nintendo just before his start! Hopefully Ollie put down the Wii long enough to see a real HOFer pitch last night!

I wish Ollie had some options left to go down to New Orleans.
