GO GET US A STUD, OMAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about a busy day, My Celtics take on the Hollywood Ho’s in the NBA Final plus it’s the First Year MLB draft and I have a Little League game tonight and the Mets go to San Diego as Big Pelf tries to keep the good karma going.

(Because of the ridiculous pitching rules implemented by Little League International and the fact that my league has my team playing just about every other day for the next week I have to sit and figure out how to make efficient use of the 5 kids I have that can actually pitch it’s become more work than I really want to do and is taking the fun out coaching little league.  I spend more time worrying about who I’m pitching and how many pitches he can throw and how much rest I have to give him and when he can pitch again. No wonder the league can’t find volunteer to coach. Little League International has to cut down on all the restrictions if it still wants to be a viable league and keep people volunteering. Thank you for letting me vent on to the Mets……….)

To be honest all I know about the players eligible in today’s draft is what I read in Baseball America. All I hope is that the Mets drop the whole stupid slotting system way of drafting and just take the best prospect on the board when it’s their turn to pick. This farm system needs a shot of athleticism and some really good hitting prospects and with three prime picks early let’s hope Omar and Co. make the right choices. If I have time this afternoon I’ll post the picks here,

Ryan Church sat out yesterday’s game with fatigue and it just makes the Mets look like total jerks for not DL him until he was 100 % ready to play.

It’s bad enough that Carlos Delgado can’t hit anymore but when he plays as lazy as he did yesterday it’s time to look at Plan B for first base. The problem is there is no other option on the Mets bench for Willie Randolph to send a message, so it’s time Omar Minaya woke up and gets Willie an option.

It seems like the know it alls in the media give the C’s no chance against the Lakers but they fail to realize that the Celtics have home court advantage and that the Celts were the best defensive team in the NBA this season. With all the talk about Kobe and Pau Gasol the two players who are the key to this series are James Posey and Kendrick Perkins. Posey off the bench has to give Kobe fits and Perk has to rough up Gasol for the Celtics to raise banner 17. Celtics in 6 Make it happen Red Make it Happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We hear Millar’s name thrown around, how perfect would that be? He’d give us a righty bat, personality, and he could bring his “cowboy up” mentality.

Does the American Amateur Baseball Congress still exist? When I was 11-12 that’s the rule book we used, not Little League. Our final was in Georgia. The regionals were in Connecticut. I never even made it that far, but it was a dream.

Yeah, Steve, the AABC does still exist. I just found their handbook (see page 28 for pitching limits).

Maybe if this is better you’d suggest to the league that they transfer their allegiance?

    An idea, anyway.

By the way, when I played 11-12 year old baseball under AABC rules we could lead & steal. I loved picking kids off. I worked on my pick-off move all the time.

If you didn’t pick them off it was just about automatic that they’d steal second because it was hard to find a 12-year old who could throw from home plate.

Eagle thanks for the heads up on the AABC I think that is the same as Federation leagues that are here on Staten Island. I was going to let my son play both LL and Fed but he also plays soccer and it’s all at the same time so he stuck with LL and soccer.

The LL I belong to would never switch due to the fact we are the oldest LL on Staten Island (54 years ) and the old foggies that run the league hate progress
