I don't disagree with this at all - in fact, I think it's known that the Skilsets will allow to bring in big name talent (regardless of where they are career-wise, so old man on the decline or injury-prone lefty-masher who makes a difference for the three games he plays a year). They know the fans will continue to take it in the butt and say - thank you, sir, may I have another? As for losing interest in CitiField, did you know/read that the stadium has sold out all but THREE of their luxury suites in the new stadium and a common schmoe like you or me (unlikely but I know plenty of people who get them at Shea with no advance) the boxes cannot book one (rent) for THREE YEARS. Even as a season ticket holder like I am, the Skillsets don't care about my money - and I'm a passionate fan who can probably run the team better than they can. And Steve, when I am brought in as GM, you can be my Tony Bernazard
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('69657','The Coop','I don\'t disagree with this at all - in fact, I think it\'s known that the Skilsets will allow to bring in big name talent (regardless of where they are career-wise, so old man on the decline or injury-prone lefty-masher who makes a difference for the three games he plays a year).
Alou- 6 innings and then another MRI. We know you guys read this site, so why didn't you listen to us? Every last fan thought you were pouring money down the drain for Alou. You knew EXACTLY what you were getting, and the problem is that you accepted it. Isn't the real problem that philosphically, the organization thinks that it is ok to get/retain players who they know will break down? Does that not tell us what the commitment is? Even Yalloff said it during the pre-game. Why mess around with this guy? Have a plan and put someone in there who can play 150. Or, are we, your customers, not good enough for that? Do we deserve broken down players? Will you take my money if it's broken down, or maybe give me a discount for watching this type of player?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('69597','Rich','Alou- 6 innings and then another MRI.
The Mets have been a large part of my life ever since they were a rumor before 1962 . I can't even watch them anymore . 46 years of frustration is too much . The Wilpons have allowed the same mistakes to be made since early 90's. Over and over again we trade young talent for a "name" on his last big contract .
Where is the farm system ? In 46 years the only superstar developed in the system has been Seaver. The present condition seems even sparser than usual.
The Wilpons are the common denominator , they are the problem.
Fuck them for ruining one of the loves of my life.
Stop spending on tickets and merchandise , then they will get it right.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('69578','Jay Baumann','The Mets have been a large part of my life ever since they were a rumor before 1962 .
I was thinking the exact opposite. Was wondering what Mets fans would be saying if either Wagner or Schoenweis injured themselves helping the grounds crew. I think it would go something like "What the f*** were they thinking?"
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('69572','Steve','I was thinking the exact opposite.
Steve, it's ok to get it all out. You know as a Mets fan that every year, there is that pivotal game or series where you know that all hope is lost. Sometimes it's early in the season and sometimes it's later. This year, it was getting swept by a horrid San Diego team in 4 games. Up until that point, I thought in the back of my mind that this team has talent and they just need to put it all together and they will go on a big run. I now know that isn't going to happen. It's ashame because this team had such promise 2 years ago. The real sad part is that the farm system is so bad also that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You know that they will buy some free agents next season for the new park and try to win but we know that won't work.

Right now, I would do a major shake up. I would put Perez in the pen and give Heilman a shot as a starter. I would put Beltran's name out there on the trading block. I would bench Delgado indefinitely and put Evans in there just send Delgottago a message. I would sit Reyes for 3 games for every stupid mental mistake he makes. I would put a cane inside of Castillo's locker. Finally, I would make these fuckers workout double the amount of normal time. Double batting practice, double infield/outfield practice, double speed drills and jogging and make these lazy P.O.S's earn their millions. Then I would make them spend an hour before every game apologizing to the fans in person at the games. If they don't do it, tell them insabordination is a breach of contract and null their contract.

When Moises Alou was Younger, it cost too much to sign him:

The Mets sign older players because it's $CHEAPER;

Jeff?
