HERE’S A KLEENEX WILLIE NOW GET LOST

So now the Willie Randolph employment termination with the New York Mets has reached the “Shut the fuck up” stage with Randolph writing a woe is me a piece in today’s NY Daily News. The more Randolph goes on about getting fired the more I think Tony Bernazard was on to something. Yes, Omar Minaya should have fired Willie on Sunday or even sooner than that and I don’t care what some folks say, there is a right way and a wrong way to do fire someone and flying a guy 3,000 miles then firing him is the wrong way and proves that maybe Omar Minaya is lacking the “SKILL SETS” to be a GM. But with all that, let today be the last day of hearing about Willie Randolph and his firing. Willie did a bad job last season and this season and from all reports lost that clubhouse. He deserved to get fired but it should have been done better. Case closed.

Adam Rubin has a great piece in today’s Daily News on Scarface Benazard looking like a contender to take Omar’s job.

For all the shit I gave Jeffey Wilpon and Scarface Bernazard and the Carlos’s and as fucking miserable as this team has made me from last June to today, the last series in Anaheim has me thinking that this team has a shot to make a run at the division. I want to hate this team and the owners and the ushers and the ticket takers and the concessionaires but I can’t,  I just can’t stop rooting for them. Just call me Brokeback Mets fan (I look at Mr. Met and tell him “ I can’t quit you” ) This team is so much a part of me I’ve come to grips with realization that we will be joined forever as much as we both love/hate each other. Last Saturday I went to Shea with my family and got a miniature Shea Stadium as a giveaway. There were four of us so we got for Shea’s. My wife says well since we have four let’s give a couple away. I nearly had a stroke. I started yelling NO NO NO NEVER NEVER I WANT THEM  ALL I WANT THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( my basement is full of Mets swag, batting helmets, seat cushions, floppy hats, baseball cards, tote bags, gym bags, bobble heads, drinking cups, and t-shirts) Then when the game was called due to rain I was so pissed off I didn’t talk to anyone the whole ride home.

Friends of mine who have tired to quit smoking tell me how difficult it is and how studies show that giving up cigarettes is the toughest addiction to break and I tell the I can see you never tried giving up being a Mets fan.

Now let’s go kick some Rockie ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J-MAN IS IN CHARGE, CANNNN YOOOOUUUU DIGGGG IITTTT!!!!!!

I’m up to my eye balls with work (Yes , I have  a real job) and I thought I had a week off from little league baseball but I found out I have to finish a game from Sunday that was stopped due to a monsoon rain storm so I’ll give you a quick and dirty post today.

Our new Warlord J-Man made a statement about dealing with Jose Reyes that has both the media and fans wondering if he’s kidding or for real:

“I told him the next time he does that, I’m going to get my blade out and cut him, right on the field. Hey I’m a gangster now. You go gangsta on me, I’m gonna have to get you now”

I bet Reyes doesn’t know if J-Man is kidding either and I don’t think he wants to find out. Last night was vintage Reyes who plays his best when he’s juking and jiving like his pants are on fire. He tested J-Man early and I ‘m guessing that Manuel showed Reyes his blade in the clubhouse. So far I like that J-Man can smile and say Don’t fuck with me” without actually saying it.

This whole Tony Bernazard story has taken on a life of its own. The media hates him as we see from the numerous stories. The players seem to love him and Willie Randolph was paranoid due to him. Of course in between all this, is the truth. My take on this is Bernazard has a lot of influence on the players because, he played 10 years in the big leagues, he was a big time player in the Players Association and he’s a Latino thus he has a bond with the Latin players. He works for a guy in Jeffey Wilpon who is the ultimate jock sniffing fanboy and he has the undying admiration of Omar Minaya. Willie Randolph clashed with Bernazard and one thing I agree with Willie was having Bernazard in the locker room. You would think that the Skill Sets would have learned from the Steve Phillips undermining of Bobby Valentine that they would let this Bernazard/Randolph feud fester. Now from what I’ve been told by people who are in the know, Bernazard has a lot of clout maybe more clout than he should have. The bottom line, Bernazard had Jeffy’s ear about whacking Randolph and both Jeffey and Tony B persuaded Omar Minaya to can him and Bernazard I feel was relaying word from Carlos Delgado, Beltran and Reyes and the relievers in the bullpen who were not Willie’s Guys and felt he was killing the team so in a power struggle like that the lone ally of Randolph was Omar but after awhile Omar got worn down and fired Willie hoping that this will relive the day to day bullshit in the clubhouse.

So after all that we have the chain of command all in sync. Let’s see if it works.

Ollie Perez had a rough 5th after a solid first 4 innings, the 5th would have been worse if not for the Angels running themselves out of the inning and in the 6th a double play got Perez out of a jam. Give the Mets credit as they showed fight to come back and with Reyes and Wright stepping up and Damien Easley and the bullpen brining victory. That’s two series in a row the Mets have won and especially beating the Angels.

CUBS LOOKING TO DEAL MURTON

I’ve been clamoring for Omar to trade for Matt Murton and now with the transition going on with the Mets why not reach out to the Cubs and make a deal for Murton he’s a righty bat stick him in a platoon in left with Trot Nixon and that gives you better production that your getting now from your corner men.

THE METS RESPOND AS ONLY THE METS CAN

Hey that was some first inning by our Metsies last night in Anaheim eh? From Jose Reyes shaking his leg to throwing a tantrum after Jerry Manuel in his first crises on day one as the manger of the Flushing Day Care Center took Jose out of the game and Reyes in true Met fashion acted like a total asshole but did apologize to his manager and teammates for being a dick. When Reyes came back to the dugout after he and Jerry Manuel had a “talk” in the clubhouse I was so hoping there would be a bandage over one of Reyes eyes from Manuel clocking him in the head but my hopes were dashed.I think a lot is getting lost in the translation over the firing of Willie Randolph, the vast majority of fans it seems are not upset over Randolph getting booted out of office but just by the way it was done. I can only speak for myself as I totally agree that Willie had to go in fact he should have been fired after his comments to the Bergen Record as that showed me a guy who was cracking under the pressure and was trying to lay blame on others and not himself, but my main gripe is why did the Skill Sets have to humiliate the guy like they did? Omar Minaya can talk all day how this was his decision when you and I know that’s bullshit this is a Jeffey (Fredo Corlione) Production.

If you want to hear more on my take on the Willie firing and on the state of the Mets click the link to hear NY Baseball Digest as I was a guest last night with hosts Mike Silva and Howard Megdal of the New York Observer. I plug a lot of shows and books here but this show is really a must listen.

With all the Fall of the Wilpon Empire going on I was so happy to watch the Boston Celtics get Banner 17 last night with a thorough humiliation of the LA Lakers. There was no way in the world that the sprit of Red Auerbach was going to let Big Chief Wind Bag tie his record of 10 Championships especially in Boston. Just watching The Big 3 come together and work toward winning a title that had eluded each of them in their career and the fact that they are not only are looked up to but revered by players like Rajon Rondo ( I LOVE RONDO as Tommy Heinhson would say) and Big Baby Davis. Journeymen players like Eddie House and James Posey knowing their role and making a major contribution along with Leon Powe and the underrated Kendrick Perkins who prove that stats sometime do not tell the story on what a players contribution are to a team define what ingredients are needed to make a championship team. The best picture of the night was my favorite all time player Bill Russell with a Championship hat on walk over to Kevin Garnett and hugged him and welcomed him into the Celtics Champions club. Garnett was in tears and the microphone pick up his comment to Russell “ I wanted to make you proud” I got chills hearing that and more so typing it. Thank you Danny Ainge, Doc, KG, The Truth, Ray, Perk, Rajon Rondo, James Posey, Tony Allen, Leon Powe, Big Baby, Eddie House, PJ, Sam Cassell for giving me something to cheer about. And to take my mind of the dysfunction in Queens.,

SKILL SETS GETTING HAMMERED ALL DAY

And deserving so. I’ve been listening to WFAN and to 1050ESPN trying to get more perspective on how the 3 AM Execution went down.

Eddie (Grey Goose) Coleman was on with My Big Fat Obnoxious Talk Show Host and The Mutt and stated that Willie Randolph was pissed with Jerry Manuel as Manuel was hanging with Tony Bernazard during batting practice at a game last week. Coleman was laying out a scenario where Bernazard a Randolph hater was letting Manuel know that something would be going down soon and that he was going to be tapped to move in to the managers office soon. The scumbag moves of scumbag moves.

Coleman also let on that Jose Reyes and Randolph had a love/hate relationship and that Reyes is very immature and would pout when Randolph would go after him. It seems Randolph didn’t have a grasp on how to get the most out of Reyes, now that’s not to say it’s all Randolphs fault but a manager has to have a better read on his players.

Freddy Skill Sets throws Omar Minaya under the bus on 1050ESPN saying it was “Omar’s decision to fire Willie” I don’t buy it at all.

I heard the sound bite of Willie leaving the hotel to catch a flight back to NYC. He was clearly upset and blindsided as it seems before the team left NYC Willie asked Omar twice if he was getting the boot and Omar assured him he was safe.

Rick Peterson’s sound bite was like Peterson out in space but it was kind of classy. He wished the organization all the best and hope his pitchers and the team gets on track and starts winning. He mad an analogy of a house being renovated and he was a hard wood floor and Dan Warthen is a Tuscany floor. My question where did Peterson hide his bong from airport security?

This is one of thw worst days in Mets history not for firing Willie Randolph but for the way it was handled and what has me pissed off more than anything is as a Mets fan I have to answer for pant loads like Jeffey Wilpon and Tony Bernazard. I must have said this 100 times today. “I don’t root for the New York Wilpons I root for the New York Mets” It’s just our unfortunate bad luck that these inept clowns own the team we love.

ANGER IN THE STREETS

It’s becoming the old M. Donald Grant days all over again all we now is for Jose Reyes to get gaught boffing an under age school girl in a van (a la Cleon Jones) and trading David Wright to the Cincinnati Reds.

If the comments, e mails and text messages I’mgetting are any indication of the anger of the Mets fan base things could get very nasty this summer thelast summer at Shea. It’s all on your head Skill Sets. I can wait to here the line of bullshit that will be served up at 5PM today
