I was ready to go on a 1,000 word rant but before writing I read Mike Vaccaro’s column in the Post and he hit on every subject I wanted go of on so read this link and know I agree 1000 % with Viaccaro.

Jerry Manuel had his worst game as Mets manager, from the opening line up, using Chris Aguila and “resting” Ryan Church who the team wouldn’t “rest” when he needed it with a second concussion but “rest” him now after a recent 15 day DL stint makes absolutely no sense . Neither does taking out you Ace in the 9^th inning when he didn’t even crack the 100 pitch mark and breezed through the 8^th. I could see lifting Santana if his spot in the batting order came up and even though he pitched a great game I ‘m very disappointed in Santana not demanding the ball for the 9^th. The great one’s make it known to the manager that there is no way he’s coming out of that game but Santana rolled over saying that “Jerry said I was done and I was fine with that” that quote has to be very disturbing to Mets fans. Another bad sign was the quote from Manuel where he said that Santana’s 95 pitches were done in a “stressful” situation and he felt he had done enough. What is Manuel implying there? That he thought Johan couldn’t handle a white hot situation in the 9^th as the two big guns, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell were coming up? I can’t figure out that “stressful” quote.

It doesn’t help that your 3-4-5 hitters go 0-11 and leave 8 runners on base of the three only D-Wright drove in a run and that was on a bases loaded walk. Carlos Beltran continues to not deliver in big spots and with Gimp Castillo out for a while it may be a good move to put Beltran in the 2 hole (he love to bunt anyway) and put Church in the 3 hole and Wright 4.

It wasn’t all Mets failing to come up big as you have to tip your hat to the Phillies bullpen especially Chad Durbin who struck out 6 Mets in 2 1/3 innings. That’s how winning teams step up.
