I loved seeing all those hall of famers, though I was hoping to see Tom Terrific out there, but the whole Yankee Stadium theme that dominated everything and monopolized the commentaries was excruciating, and then that Steinbrenner moment was just disgusting. For anyone that was still around at the very very end of the long broadcast, did you see the Master Card Priceless Moment? Which should have been a replay of Drew's homer, or Young's winning RBI, one of the various defensive gems, even could have been the Josh Hamilton heroics of the previous night...but no, the 208 All Star Game Master Card Priceless Moment was Steinbrenner arriving in his cart and getting kissed by those hypocritic highlander death-eaters, reggie, yogi, goose.

Give me regular season baseball without all this hype and idiocy. Give me my Mets!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('76364','David in Manhattan','I loved seeing all those hall of famers, though I was hoping to see Tom Terrific out there, but the whole Yankee Stadium theme that dominated everything and monopolized the commentaries was excruciating, and then that Steinbrenner moment was just disgusting.
Have to have a day for #31. Should have done already, and while I agree the Mets take too long to honor their players (as well as it takes them too long to put guys on the DL), we don't know for sure that they weren't set to have that day and Mike said he didn't want it yet. They may not have asked him, but we don't know for sure.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('76332','Paul','Have to have a day for #31.
I thought for a second that they were kissing him as if he was the POPE!!! George looks real bad!!!! Why did they need all that security around him. He was in a golf cart at Yankee Stadium.
Ok, last comment. They just brought Steinbrenner out in a cart. Yogi (the man he fired 18 games into the 1985 season and who swore he'd never go back to Highlander Stadium) kissed George, and so did Reggie (the man George ran out of town for Winfield). Is there anything real about that organization? It is made up of fake smiles and public relations.

That scene, among a million other things, ade me glad I'm a Mets fan.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('76255','Rich','Ok, last comment.
I have a new chant...
Jay Horowitz must go.... This guy has been here too long and the Public Relations Dept for the Mets Suck. He has no clue on how to steal headlines from the Skankies and how to get the fans excited about being a Met fan. It would be AWESOME to have a Piazza day. He had a great career as a MET and is a fan favorite.

Crap, didn't mean to submit yet...

Do you guys remember back in 1990 when the mets were picked to win the division easily and by early June were something like 9.5 games behind the pirates? Then the Mets won something like 18 out of 21 games before the All Star break to either tie or get withing 1 game of the Pirates? Then the all star break came and as soon as it was over and the season started again, the Mets got ICE cold and the Pirates never looked back? This win streak to get back within a game of the Phils feels just like that and it scares me. The Mets were so hot and then the all star break came and ended it. I hope for once, Met history doesn't repeat itself.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('76211','Frank from Jersey','Crap, didn\'t mean to submit yet...\r\n\r\nDo you guys remember back in 1990 when the mets were picked to win the division easily and by early June were something like 9.5 games behind the pirates?
about a week ago, I threw a post in there about bringing FMart up and didn't really get much of a response but now you guys are starting to come around ;) It can't hurt to bring this kid up and let his enthusiasm get contagious on the rest of the Mets (not that they need it right now though).

I also want to agree with your sentiments about not getting too high on the Mets just yet. I've seen way too many times they put on a winning streak and followed with an equal or worse losing streak but i will say that watching this team lately, I feel like it's a completely different team than 2-3 weeks ago.

DO YOU GUYS REMEMEBER:
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('76210','Frank from Jersey','about a week ago, I threw a post in there about bringing FMart up and didn\'t really get much of a response but now you guys are starting to come around ;) It can\'t hurt to bring this kid up and let his enthusiasm get contagious on the rest of the Mets (not that they need it right now though). \r\n\r\nI also want to agree with your sentiments about not getting too high on the Mets just yet.
I agree, bad move by not having a Piazza day. Why do the Mets seem so bad at honoring former players and teams. Didn't it take 20 years to have a 1986 Mets night too?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('76161','JRJ','I agree, bad move by not having a Piazza day.
