Just because the Mets season is over doesn’t mean we close up shop here at The Eddie Kranepool Society no way, the venom machine will keep on churning all off season beside what you expect me to do actual work? HA HA so let’s start with some of the Mets news of the day
Last night I had the pleasure of joining Frankie the Sports Guy and his Night of 1,000 Mets Bloggers as we commiserated, chastised and vented like the angry Mets fans we are. When you listen to the show you’ll notice we did a through job of beating the shit out all in the Mets organization who deserved it and maybe some who didn’t (collateral damage) but I’m sure you will find down right entertaining.
The only thing worse than Sugarpants Wright not coming through in a big spot is his allegiance to the Cranky Old Man/MILF Presidential ticket. Also disturbing is this exchange that I read in what I consider the be all end all of journalism Page Six of the NY Post:
David Wright the Mets slugging third baseman preferred talking politics to baseball after his choke-prone team blew a last chance at the playoffs Sunday. That night, Wright, a Republican who has dined with President Bush at the White House, was chatting with Kelly Hocklass, an African-American woman, at Duke’s Sports Bar on East 19th Street. A spy said, “[Wright] professed his love for [John] McCain and ‘hot hockey mom’ [Sarah Palin] and then told [Hocklass], ‘I’m a white boy from Virginia. Who do you think I’m voting for?’ ” Wright also told her, “You are being fooled by [Barack] Obama because of the color of your skin.” But Hocklass told us the two were just joking around. “We were just having a conversation,” she said. “I wear an Obama pin and said to him, ‘Don’t tell me you’re a McCain supporter.’ We started joking about being Democrat versus Republican. It was a typical conversation at a bar and not serious. We’re friends.”
Now my question is did Sugarpants hook up with Ms. Hocklass and rock his white boy world? That’s one way of knocking some sense into him.
Speaking of White errrrrr I mean Wright I agree with Ball Buster Onley who says in his blog that you have to pay for that Wright should call John Smoltz and hook up with the sports psychologist that helped him early in his career. Then he needs to get with a PR guy to help him watch what he says in public places as well.
I’m not much for polls unless there is a female dangling from one but I was pleasantly surprised by the results in the one that ran in the Daily News today. 59 % of those who voted said the blame the players for the latest choke job and I agree 1,000 % as they are the ones who didn’t come through. 36 % blamed Omar and only 2 % but the blame on J-Man and the Skill Sets.
Also the fans spoke out against breaking up “The Core” by overwhelming vote to keep Reyes/Wright/Beltran/Delgado as the nucleus also Dan Murphy got big approval rating but the highest mark of 91 % to keep him, wow really? Poor Scott Schoeneweis has a worse approval rating than our first retarded president at 91% to dump him.
I may have something on the NLDS ALDS tomorrow but I’ll ask a question for today. How upset will you be as a Mets fan if the Tampa Bay Rays win the World Series and Scott Kazmir gets a ring and maybe an MVP?

For starters I am personally pulling for the Rays to win it all!!! This is just to piss the Skankees off. As far as a Shrink for Wright, I think that Buster Lonely needs one. What does he know about the game and what makes him an expert??? What does he know what it takes to run a baseball organization or any business. He is a MORON!!!
I say GOOD if Kazmir et al with Rays win the WS. Show the Wilpons/Omar that YOUTH is the way for this organization. If we need to rebuild, so be it. I’m all for having young dudes, and draft picks, etc.
Add me to the Rays bandwagon and if Kazmir wins the post season MVP or whatever, that’s fine with me. He never did anything wrong in my eyes. Would be nice if the phils got swept again so I could get some relief at work (i live close to philly so my entire office are philly phans.

Steve at his best! F’ing hilarious! DW should keep a low profile for a while. Not sure if he’s exhibiting the best judgment right now. I’m for the Cubs to win it all, they give the NL its best shot at breaking the beer-league hex that has overwhelmed the All Star game and most of the recent WS. Kazmir is Nolan Ryan all over again, we had a stud pitcher, gave up on him, and now we have to deal with it.
Not sure if you all heard Howie on Boomer and Carton yesterday. He says we need an “attitude guy”, like Rose was for the Phils in the late 70’s into 1980. I think at least Howie is looking in the right place. Change on this team needs to be on the field, with some guys who aren’t shrinking violets when the pressue is on.
Oh totally, Rich. This team is nothing but a bunch of overpaid overhyped p*ssies who crumble at the sight of adversity. Even Piazza, the “go to guy” of my generation was not a gamer. The trouble is, I think Wright is too nice and Reyes is just a cut-up, not a leader. Delgado is a leader only when he’s on his game - so that’s like what, 50% of the time? Unbelievable. Notice he never gives interviews after a bad game — he should learn a thing or two from Teufel after game 1 of 1986 WS. He granted every writer an answer after he was solely responsible for f*cking up the game and lost as a result. I will say it once, I’ll say it a million times - this team is just p*ssy filled. End of story.
It seem swe are all on the smae page when it comes to getting some bal lbusters in here to shake up the Mets clubhouse
Coop no need for an * fuck and pussy are more than acceptable terms at this site in fact it’s encouraged
Howie mentioned Orlando Hudson. I’m in for that. He’s not the marquee that Rose was, but he’s a gamer, plays hurt, and is a no bullshit guy. One more thing for your opinions, the booth crew was talking about the fact that 4 Mets played in +159 games this year as if it were a great thing. I disagree. Maybe that was the problem. I don’t care how young these guys are, they’re human and they need days off. I think DW looked tired, and who knows if Reyes may have been better vs. FL if he had some rest. Love him or hate him, Davey was master at keeping guys fresh by knowing when to spell them. Yes, he had a world-class bench. But I find it hard to believe that for a day or two in July and August we could not have used tatis at third and Easley at short. The Mets bench this year, other than Easley, left something to be desired.
One more question, would anyone take a shot at free-agent Varitek? I like young guys, and he is 36. But, he’s a no bullshit guy who will get in your face. Ask A-Rod.
Although Varitek’s numbers have plummeted and we already have a #1 catcher, Varitek is definitely a team leader.
That Olney column is 100% idiocy. Runs early in the game count too, ya know?
Gamers, huh? Do they have to be mob-connected gamblers like Rose, too?
Yeah, that’s it Kranepool!!
Get on Wright for being a Republican but let Jerry The Thug have free pass on the ‘gangsta’ crap.
You get on a Mets star for supporting a war hero yet celebrate JTT for comparing Johan’s gem to a lifestyle in which the pinnacle achievement is murdering a cop.
I have an idea - FREE MUMIA - then make him manager of the Mets!!!
Revolting….

Well quite frankly I am appalled by this…
Appalled by the fact I did not know this going in when I made my first couple of comments…Well I know now.
Any how…
Can someone please fucking tell me when my
9 year old is going to stop crying over Sundays mother fucking disaster.
I was pissed in 73 but this kid is taking it way to hard.
If you let her continue as a Met fan, she will cry her entire life except for brief, joyous periods every 20 years or so.
Excellent point by Rich, why did Wright, Reyes, Beltran, and Delgado play in so many games??? He’s exactly right in saying that SNY talked about this like it was something to be celebrated.
If you saw Reyes those last two weeks he had trouble going after balls hit in the hole.
Both he and Wright looked completly gassed going into the last few weeks of the seasons.
I don’t see the point in blaming Wright, Reyes, or Beltran. they were the 3 of the best players in the National league this year.
The real problem was the the bullpen and the last 2/5 ths of the rotatation.
*28 times the Mets were tied or had a lead after the 6th inning and LOST the game.
*Also, it was a badly assembled bullpen consisting of lefty righty specialists ill-suited to relieve more than one or two batters at a time.
* I know bashing a bullpen is cliche and over-used but this time is was warranted.
Omar had to do more for this Bullpen than just getting Luis Ayala off of the Nationals scrap heap.
*WXRL is an excellent baseball prospectus metric that measueres the effectiveness of relief pitchers. This year the Mets didn’t even have ONE pitcher ranked among the top 50 relief pitchers!! The highest rated Met relief pitcher was Duaner Sanchez at 54th place. Joe Smith finished at 66th place and Billy Wagner ranked 74th.
*Also, How does Pedro Martinez get off the hook?? This guy was terrible this year. 43 million dollars for one good year??? Spare me all the B.S. about him bringing back the franchise.
To me the Mets are the 1990’s Mariners all over again. 4 Star players, 1 Star pitcher, medicore supporting players, medicore pitching staff, no bullpen.
I would like the Mets to sign Dan Wheeler, set up man for the Tampa Bay Rays in the off-season.
There is no excuse for him supporting McCain, but Wright is a great player.
Didn’t the Mets come in 2nd in runs scored in the NL this year?
No way we dangle Wright or Reyes.
With Wagner around the last two months, we would certainly have gotten the extra win that we needed to make the play-offs.
Stork you have to calm down with the Gangsta’ stuff and not only am I against the Old Cranky Man/MILF ticket I want Bush/Chaney brought up on charges as war criminals
Kranepool - why do I have to calm down?
Perhaps you should take into consideration that some Met fans don’t find the comparison of the team to ‘gangstas’ cute or fun in any way. It really is revolting.
I didn’t see people all that calm after Don Imus used a term straight out of (sorry, ‘outta’) ‘gangsta’ lexicon.
Re politics - not really interested in discussing it here. I’m just saying that calling out D Wright for casting his vote for a war hero while letting smarmy, creepy Jerry Manuel have a free pass on his revolting ‘gangsta’ schtick is hypocritical.
I will say that sarah palin is a complete fucking fraud but old crank man gets my vote anyway. anyone who names their children ‘piper’ and ‘track’ is a fucking crackpot and a narcissist.
Stork, your flippancy regarding your republican vote is exactly the kind of worrying attitude that will get yet another republican term. He’s a war hero, great, good on him, thats all that matters right? The fact that he’s “old crank man” is only one reason not to vote. He cops a heart attack and the “crackpot narcissist” is in the hot seat! Well done you! David Wright’s comments i find alarming, and disconserting, but thats ok cos “he’s from Virginia, so what should we expect”? Only “fooled by the color of skin”, regarding Obama? Frightening! Yep i know you didn’t want a political conversation on here but views have been aired and yours are just as alarming as D-Wrights and i find them…..Disgusting!
Back to original question from Steve, I hope the Rays and Kazmir do well, i have no bad feeling towards Kazmir and see no reason to, we let him go! The call for Wheeler as a reliever gets my vote too. Good luck to them but i think the Beantowners will do it again.
Well said all around Mazoola!
Time has passed, the election is history, Obama is the President Elect. Fantastic!
Take note, David Wright, get with the program. The City of NY voted 80% for Barack!
Even your home state, the Commonwealth of Virginia, onetime capital of the Confederacy, set aside the old patterns and this year endorsed the energetic, smart, visionary African American that has caught the imagination of the country and the world, and who just might save us all from total economic collapse, environmental folly, and general political ignorance.
Hey Mazoola -
Specify which of my views you found “alarming” and “disgusting.”
