Steve, you gotta remember that the World Series is a nationally televised event. If they started the weekday games at 7:30pm east coast time, it would only be 4:30pm on the west coast and most people would still be at work. I know you think the world revolves around New York City (and maybe it does), but quite a significant percentage of the US population lives in California and other western states (California is by far the most populous state in the US). If Fox started the game at 7:30, nobody on the west coast would be watching. This isn't Fox's fault. People on the west coast should be able to see these games live too. Tape delay won't work because sporting events generally are only watchable in "real time." If you already know how the game will turn out, there's no real reason to watch it (unless something really unique or unusual happens, like a no-hitter). Hardcore fans excluded, of course.

This isn't a problem for Mets home games because the vast majority of the audience will be on eastern time. They can start home games at 7:10pm east coast time without excluding a significant portion of the audience.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('119502','Keith','Steve, you gotta remember that the World Series is a nationally televised event.
