In 1976, The Cosmos played before 25K at Shea Stadium:

Not bad at all, as the Mets were drawing less than 30K per game;

$5 to get into Shea that evening;

Pele' scored the 1st Goal on that pitch that evening, just a little past the pitchers mound, during the 1st Half.
Reply - Quote

That's a great list, Steve.

I always go back to 1977 being the worst year ever. In that 1 calendar year, New York sports LOST: Tom Seaver, Joe Namath, Walt Frazier, Dr. J & Rod Gilbert...
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('119995','CharlieH','That\'s a great list, Steve.\r\n\r\nI always go back to 1977 being the worst year ever.
Have you ever noticed that on Boston Legal, the law firm is called, Crane, Poole, and Schmidt? Must be a Mets' fan in there somewhere.

Were you also aware the there was a Law and Order episode where the various supportuing characters had names such as Beltrean, Delgado, and Reyes?
I guess that we got in there too.

I just discovered your site through Google Alerts today because I posted NY METS as a starting point. I like your site and will look forward to it next season. Thanks to Stub Hub, I've already purchased my tickets for three games at CitiField. I hated the way this year (as well as last year) ended. I will, however, forgive, but never forget.
Feel free to reply via the email address posted above.
