I'll concede that maybe this "leadership" cost the Mets a win or 2 this season. But the bullpen cost them 10 times that amount. "Leadership" and "chemistry" are not definitive qualities in a ballplayer or team - they just happen. OBP, SLG, OPS, K/BB - these are definitive quantifiable things a GM should look for in a ballplayer. I'll take the guy who goes .300/.400/.500 and is a sullen d*ck in the clubhouse over David Eckstein any day. Keep up the good work, it's required daily reading. I’ll concede that maybe this “leadership” cost the Mets a win or 2 this season. But the bullpen cost them 10 times that amount. “Leadership” and “chemistry” are not definitive qualities in a ballplayer or team – they just happen. There is also a lack of soild veteran leadership to pass the torch to Wright and Reyes. The loss of Cliff Floyd has been sorely under reported as he led by takng Wright under his wing and showed him the ropes.
