MORE, MORE, MORE HOW DO YOU LIKE IT, HOW DO YOU LIKE IT

I’m still trying to figure out how this whole Bernie Madoff, rip off is effecting the Mets when it comes to adding payroll. Add in the fall of the financial institution and Auto industries (two of the big advertisers and suite buyers in sports) is this part of the reason that the Mets have not offered contracts to players they desperately need or is it Omar being a cool calculated assassin?

If I had to rate the remaining free agents out there that  I would love the Mets to obtain the list would start with Derek Lowe, then either Ollie Perez or Randy Wolf and then Manny. If it weren’t for the latest news on the Skill Sets taking a major hit in the pocket book by that no good scumbag Madoff, I’d be in full rant mode about the Mets not even bidding on Lowe or even looking at Manny but I still don’t know how much this scandal will work against the team spending money on big ticket players.

A pitcher like Lowe even at 35 years old would not be a big risk with a 5 yr deal for the fact that he is durable and even if he spends the last two years of the deal as a reliever he would still be an asset. If it comes down to Ollie Perez or Lowe I’d take Lowe in a heartbeat. Then add Randy Wolff and you have to security of Jon Niese in Buffalo as the first call up in case of injury.

I know the hard economic times we live in are real but I guess when it comes to the Mets I’m blind to fiscal responsibility because even with the great week the Mets had in Las Vegas I want more but I don’t feel what I’m asking for is outlandish.

If I am giving 5 years to a pitcher, which I generally oppose, how much better to give it to a kid like Ollie rather than an old timer like Lowe?

Plus, Ollie is already a Met, so there is a loyalty factor, and probably still able to improve, not decline like Lowe probably would.

I say sign Ollie Perez, but ask the Mets prima dona radio announcers, Wayne and Howie, to lay off the constant, obnoxious carping.

They will not get Lowe… way too expensive for the Wilpons…they will sign Ollie…yikes!!… but they also need a right hand batting big bopper in the line up… Manny would be perfect…2 year deal with an option for a third year…this solves the clutch hitting issues in the line up and puts the Mettsies on the back page … take that Highlanders!!!
