I voted no, but thats as of right now in his carrer.

He would need to finish very strong to get in. A WS MVP wouldnt hurt.

if he can mash for 3 more years at the same level he has in the past, I can see him getting in one day.

Delgado in my opinion is a tough case. On the plus side, he has been a terrific offensive force throughout his career. While with the Blue Jays, he was probably one of the top 2 or 3 first basemen in the AL. While guys like Giambi had better peak years (OPS wise) Delgado had been doing it from the mid ninties through last year, with the exception of injury plagued 2007. That consistency is no small matter, as he was a clean player in an unclean environment. A lot of critics will point to lack of MVP and All-Star votes, but I think both are largely due to playing in Toronto, where there is minimal media exposure, and playing in the AL East, where the Blue Jays were relegated to a perennial 3rd place team.

At the same time, the biggest arguments against him are lack of MVP votes/All-Star selections as mentioned above. Only one playoff appearance, but no WS. In addition, he is just approaching the 500 homer plateau, which I think is beginning to diminish in stature, given the large number of players to reach that milestone in the past few years.

Ultimately, I think Delgado reached 500 homers this year, and if he can sign on with an AL team in 2010 as DH, then he could potentially be on the cusp of 600 homers by his 40th birthday, assuming a normal decline. Looking at his performance last year, the tremendous power, and hands are still there.

So for me, right now its a no, but will likely become a yes, as he surpasses the 550 homerun mark somewhere in 2010-11, and approaches 600 in 2012, as a 39 yr old.

Delgado is good and sometimes has been great, but not Hall worthy.

Do Wright & Reyes look like Lavern & Shirley- http://morehardball.blogspot.com/2009/01/more-twins-other-than-minnesota.html

Carlos Delgado is a first ballot Hall of Famer! He has 470 homers & 1491 RBI as of April 8th, 2009(top 30 Home run hitter of all time; will become 26th player in 500 home run club; & top 50 in RBI all time). Also, this season Delgado is likely to hit his 500th homer, get 1500th RBI & 500th double (11th player in history to do so) Clearly, people need to actually look at this guy’s stats. It’s obvious he’s got Hall of Fame numbers and should be in. Seems most people who say no don’t even bother to look at his numbers and where he stands all time. Would be nice if people did some research.
