SANCHEZ, REED, A.REYS AND TOM MARTIN, YEAH BABY MEET ME AT THE PARADE!!!

So here we sit on a new era in the history of the United States and I’m just wondering is Barrack Obama taking over as President or as Messiah? Make no mistake I am a big Obama supporter but I think people are getting a bit carried away with what the new leader of the U.S.can or will accomplish. Believe me, I am 100 % in President Obama’ corner but the ills that effect this country will not be solved with a wave of the president’ hand (we all know only Mike Francesa can make things happen with a hand wave). I’m confident that President Obama’s administration will be much more successful than the reign of error that just ended in the White House but I’ll hold of on the coronation for a while.

Maybe Scott Boras is not the genius he thinks he is? By advising Jason Varitek not to file for arbitration he may have cost his client a few million bucks. He looks to be doing the same with Oliver Perez who quite frankly needs the Mets more than the Mets need him and if the reports are true that the Mets are looking over the medical records of Ben Sheets and are working on deal (yes they are far apart but at least they’re taking to the Sheets camp) and that comes to fruition then OP will be shit out of luck when it comes to landing back with the Mets.

Mets have resigned Duaner Sanchez to a $737.5K raise and Jeremy Reed to a $925K, if that doesn’t say NL Pennant then what does?

Joe McDonald on his NY Mets Report site has pics of the demolition of Shea Stadium. Why can’t the let die with some dignity?

I’m so happy to have found Tim Marchman’ website as I have missed his columns since the NY Sun shut down. Here is a post from his site on our beloved NY Mets:

{I was talking to a well-placed baseball person this week, and he made two points that made me reconsider the Mets’ winter. The first is that the team is effectively under new ownership. The second—and it goes to a point they’ve been kicking around over at Faith and Fear—is that there’s no real pride in ownership in Flushing. I haven’t seen the new offices, for instance, but I understand that rather than what you might expect—a World Series trophy, a Tom Seaver jersey, life-sized prints of an ebullient Jose Reyes—they’re decorated with blueprints of the Fed. Which is fine enough, but conveys a certain ill ease that the Wilpon family has always betrayed, nostalgia for a dead team and a disdain for the live one.}

I’ve heard that Jeffey wanted to buy more stock in Citi Group but he needed four more bottles to return for deposit to make an even 3 bucks to buy another share of stock to wipe his arse with.

The Mayor of Hartford, Ct is looking to bring back NHL hockey to the city that had the Whalers stolen from them and moved to that hockey hot bed of Charlotte NC. I am behind any movement to “Bring Back the Whalers” and especially this outstanding piece of music.

SLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWWLLLLLY I TURN

Since the upgrade of the back end of the bullpen, the Mets off season has dragged on like the Bataan Death March, every day the same story lines of OP, No Manny, Petey begging for a job, hearing the name Randy Wolf more often than I’d like and on and on but I’m starting to get an understanding on what it’s like to negotiate and make a big decision on a life changing matter.

My son got his high school acceptance letters this weekend and I’m proud to say he made all three of his high school choices and has been accepted in the Scholars Program at all three schools. His top two choices (St Peter’s Boys and Monsignor Farrell) have offered him full four year scholarships (yes, hard to believe he’s my kid but believe me he takes after his mom thank god) both schools are excellent schools and each one offers things the other doesn’t such as small class (St Peters) and broader base of extracurricular (Farrell) so the choice is a difficult one.

As I said my son is 100 % like his mother so he thinks things out and is very methodical about his decisions unlike his father who goes on impulse and does very little thinking so this decsion may go to the deadline which is January 31.

So my concern for which way Omar and the Mets will turn for pitching has been diverted while my own family negotiating is ongoing but I would like to find out if Scott Boras represents High School freshman?

WELCOME TO GROUNDHOG DAY

The tedious Mets off season keeps crawling along as Ollie Perez and Scott Boras are holding out for federal bailout money and the Mets are offering Jeffy’s nickel deposit money and we Mets fans sit here wondering why we even give a shit about this organization.

Time for Omar and Co. to put a competitive deal on the table for OP with a deadline. Omar be a man and tell Boras shit or get off the pot with OP this ain’t Sandy Koufax we’re courting here.

At this point maybe bringing in any two Randy Wolf, John Garland, Ben Sheets or Freddie Garcia is as good if not better than paying a Kings ransom for OP or maybe I’m just a frustrated Mets fan that is freezing his ass off in 6 degree weather wishing it was April allready.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE KC SCOUTS

So the NY Islanders are looking to play an exhibition game next fall in that hockey hotbed of Kansas City MO this way Charles Wang can but the strong arm on Nassau County for his Lighthouse Project and get the arena built.

It has been years since I’ve schlepped to the Mausoleum,  sure it’s no palace but the team has been successful so maybe the problem is not so much the building but ownership. Wang had Neil Smith in place as GM after the Mike Milbury disaster but then decided to undermine Smith by putting in a Gang of Four front office and Smith laughed in Wangs face and said bye-bye.

There is a Mets angle in this story as the Skill Sets pre-Bernie Maddof  put in there bid on that Lighthouse Project and have made no secret that they would like to obtain the Islanders but now it looks like the ship has sailed.

“ANSWER THE QUESTION MR. MINAYA”

So last night Omar Minaya was a guest on SNY’s Hot Stove show and of course one of the big questions was about Manny Ramirez (is it me or are the Skill Sets the only folks in Metsdom who against Manny as a Met?) but Omar never answered the question in fact all he needed was fruit basket on his head because he did a great Carmen Miranda imitation:

From Matt Cerrone’s Mets Blog:

Asked specifically about Manny Ramirez, and whether he has recommended signing him to ownership, Minaya said:

{“Manny Ramirez is a great player… But, the reality is, we have been focused on pitching… If you don’t have the foundation with starting pitching, I just don’t believe you win championships… So, we have to address our starting pitching and our bullpen first… Like anything else, you put your team together, like all GMs, you have a game plan, but the bottom line is you have to focus on pitching.”}

Huh? Omar? Manny? The question was about acquiring Manny Ramirez? Yes we need pitching no doubt but a right handed hitting outfielder should on your shopping list as well. Omar seems to be ready to become a City Councilman.

“FUNNY? FUNNY HOW? LIKE I’M A CLOWN?

You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little fucked up maybe, but I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to fuckin’ amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

The fallout from the awful Inaugural Season at Paupers Field patch just gets more embarrassing everyday as Stephen Colbert now weighs in on what is now known as the Pizza Patch as Domino’s Pizza is getting more exposure over the patch than those deadbeats over at Citi Group.

Last night during my diatribe on PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL I asked the questions (one of many and Manny) who is running the show in Flushing, The Skill Sets or these thieving unimaginaitive bastards from Citi Group?

Of course our pals at the 700 Level have posted the video of Colbert mocking the Mets (Mock the Mets, Mock the Mets, Step right up and Mock the Mets) and it just makes me wonder if anyone in the Skill Sets Circle jerk gives a shit or are they happy wearing a “Kick Me” sign on there back all the time.

Check out PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL from last night by clicking here.

“OH THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL, BUT THE BASEBALL TALK WILL BE DELIGHTFUL TONIGHT ON PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL”

Forget the bone chilling cold and the snow and the general suckiness of winter, it’s just 39 days until pitcher and catchers report to spring training and it’s Thursday so you know what that means kids “it’s PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL night” and we finally have some hot topics to discuss whether it’s Derek Lowe to the Braves and which way the Mets turn to fill their starting rotation. Is Omar a genius or is getting schooled by Scott Boras? Is Manny to the Mets really dead or is there some hope of it happening? What spots on the Mets 25 man roster are up for grabs come spring time in St Lonesome?  How much more money can the Steinbrenner Crime Family shake out the public coffers for their pleasure palace and how about the humongous set of balls attached to Rand Levine’ three piece set?

These are just some of the questions I hope to answer along with your help so tune in and join in by calling our call in line (646) 595-4462 on Blog Talk Radio at 9PM EST tonight.

EXCUSE MR. LOWE, WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR CY YOUNG AWARDS?

Of all the mornings to have a leak in a pipe, this morning would not be one of them as it’s 17 degrees out and I had to shut the water in my house and my heating system runs on hot water so no water, no heat and I’m waiting for my plumber to come by so between a leaky pipe and the renovation of my living room I feel like the ring master at Ringling Bros/Barnum Bailey Circus.

In the aftermath of the Lowe signing, I just hope the pressure of the impatient Mets fan base (yes, I know hello black pot it’s me black kettel) does not cause an over payment to Oliver Perez. At this point I am more intregied with a Ben Sheets/Randy Wolf daily double that giving OP anything more than 3yrs/33mil no 4th year an no more that $11-$12 mil a year. 3/$36mil is my ceiling on OP.

I’m putting together a bunch of topics for tomorrow night’s Pro Baseball Central show as I will be flying solo as Joe McDonald has a previous engagement and speaking of Joe check out the new design at the mothership NYSPORTSDAILY that Joe has put together is bright and easier to navigate to all categories that make NY SPORTSDAILY your number 1 NY sports destination on the web.

As I say I will be in full Spalding Gray monologue mode tomorrow night so why not join me at 9PM EST on Blogtalkradio and call in at (646) 595-4462 where we can discuss the Lowe deal, OP, the offense and all things Mets on Pro Baseball Central.

IT’S ALLRIGHT OMAR, I AIN’ T MAD AT YA

Seems to me Mets land is spilt on the non-signing of Derek Lowe by the Mets and Lowe going to our rival the Atlanta Braves. As much as I wanted Lowe I feel Omar did the right thing here as I like Lowe but not enough to over pay like Frank Wren did. I love pizza but if I go into a pizzeria and the mook behind the counter tells me a slice is 10 bucks well then I’m not eating pizza that day. Now say the Chinese take out next door has a special of General Tso Chicken/Fried Rice/Egg Roll and sweet iced tea for 7 bucks, I’m not only getting a full meal but I also have 3 dollars left to by a Lotto ticket.

Derek Lowe is the 10 dollar slice and Ollie Perez is the General Tso’s chicken.

If it took 4yrs/$60 mil for Lowe to sign with the Braves how far would you have wanted the Mets to go? 5yrs? $65 mil? That’s outrageous?

Same thing goes for OP, he better not have a shit eating grin on his face like he has the Mets over a barrel. Some people think the Mets should panic and over pay OP that is exactly what the shouldn’t do.

With all due respect to Oliver Perez until there is some other offer from some other team the 3yr/$30 mil offer still stands. Show me where OP has a better offer than that?  No way you give Perez 4yrs or more that $10 mil a year, alright maybe I go $11 mil but no way to I go up in years.
