FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELT, 3 MORE YEARS OF OLLIE!!!!

No fourth year but the money was sweetened so I guess Scott Boras saved some face but you have to wonder what took so long? How tough a negotiation was this? 3 years/$36 mil is a victory for Omar and the Mets in terms of years and money. So now what? Now that the pitching has been addressed will the need for an outfielder with some pop be added? Can the Mets be happy with a projected 7-8-9 in the lineup of Schneider-Castillo-Pitcher De Jour? Can Gimp handle the two hole anymore so that Ryan Church get take the 7 hole with Schneider moving to 8?  Still more questions than answers with 12 days to go before pitchers and catchers report to St Lonesome Time to stock up on the Pepto Bismal

    Good job, Omar, welcome back Ollie. Can Manny be far behind?

    Let’s go win it all this year!

  2. I know all the cool kids love to kill on Castillo – and sure he was HORRIBLE in 08, but we do all realize that he’s close to a .300 career hitter with a few gold gloves right? I’ve read that he’s in the best shape he’s been in years and ready to put 08 behind him and prove us lovely hardass Met Fans wrong – this would be a great time to be wrong.

    Manny Bonilla Ramirez? Scares teh crap out of me….

    Umm, I’m assuming you meant to write that it’s a victory for Ollie/Boras. Ollie isn’t worth more than $8 million a year. The Mets grossly overpaid for him. Ugh.

    @doctaK

    It’s not the money Doc it’s the years 3 yrs as opposed to the 5 Ollie/Boras was looking for that makes it a Mets win

  5. @Kay – Just one comment… Can’t compare Bonilla to Manny… Manny has more natural hitting ability in his pinky than Bonilla’s whole body… LOL

  6. It can’t be a victory signing when the Mets raised their initial offer despite being the only team to offer him anything. Just because Boras was looking for 5 and got 3 doesn’t mean it’s a victory. The years are fine, but the $ amount is $12 million WAY too much. In this offseason of bargain signings, overpaying for anyone is silly. Omar has done just that.

    here is why it was a win for Omar and the Mets
