If you haven’t gagged on your bagel this morning then I guess you haven’t seen this from Adam Rubin’s Surffin’ The Mets blog:
Johan Santana says doctors told him it’s the triceps tendon that is causing stiffness in his pitching elbow. With pitching coach Dan Warthen and manager Jerry Manuelalready on the bus for Lakeland, Fla., Santana said he’ll wait until Sunday to map out a plan for pitching. But it’s clear he won’t be in a Grapefruit League game for a while. Santana said he hopes to throw a light bullpen session on Sunday. He then wants to face hitters in a batting-practice-style setting two or three times before entering a game. With potentially two days rest in between each BP, we’re possibly talking two weeks before a game appearance.

Yes, that is the Mets puke bucket making an early season appearance

OK, I’ll be the first to make a contribution. I will be lighting an extra candle in church this evening, hoping that this goes away soon. But any time you hear pitcher and sore elbow in the same sentence, you flinch. When it is Johan, you barf. No, you convulse and have a borderline seizure. Please let this be typical sping soreness…
This wouldn’t be a big deal but the EL Cheapos Metropolitans let several good pitchers slip through their fingers this off season, because “we have the best pitcher in baseball”. Would it have been so horrible to have the two best pitchers in baseball on one team? Its not easy being a Met fan…but here we go…
