This is Spring Training! These players don't throw year round, they get sore, it happens ever spring. Also, you can trust the Mets to get an injury situation right about as often as Aaron Heilman got out of the 8th inning with the lead, it doesn't happen. I am not sold on the "this was a reason to get Santana out of the WBC" take. Santana is a bulldog, and you can't tell me that he wouldn't have done anything he could to pitch for his country. Also, let's say he doesn't pitch until the 2nd week of the season. I'd rather have him be sure he is 100% rather than go out against Cincy and blow out his elbow. I never really believed Santana was all that hurt, but he needed an excuse to skip the WBC. His countrymen wanted him to pitch there - BIG TIME.
