It's the thrill and beauty of the game, the competition, situations, stepping up, teamwork, and also the very individual moments -- you and the pitcher facing off and everyone watching -- that thread through an afternoon of baseball, and just the good feeling of a well-played game, even if the final count shows you came up short. Good stuff for those kids in Staten Island, and it gave me a thrill to read your account.
