Speaking of baseball like it oughta be, is anyone giving Jerry Manuel the credit he deserves for the job he is doing as mets manager?

After 142 games, and despite injuries decimating his club last year and this, he just might be on track to become the most successful Mets manager ever.

2008: 34-35 (.493) Willie Randolph

2008: 55-38 (.591) Jerry Manuel
2009: 28-21 (.571)

That's it, Steve, baseball like it oughta be. It's the thrill and beauty of the game, the competition, situations, stepping up, teamwork, and also the very individual moments -- you and the pitcher facing off and everyone watching -- that thread through an afternoon of baseball, and just the good feeling of a well-played game, even if the final count shows you came up short. Good stuff for those kids in Staten Island, and it gave me a thrill to read your account. Nice job, coach!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('148656','David in Manhattan','That\'s it, Steve, baseball like it oughta be.
