It has never been about spending money, Mets have always done it, but, they have never spent it properly. They clearly are not spending it on the medical staff. And while I do not always like the way he manages a game, you almost want to see jerry manuel get fired, just so that someone else in baseball will give him a real job. Maybe Gary Carter, when he opened his mouth before Willie Randolph was fired knew what the heck he was talking about, and was not that desperate to get the job, and it was his way of making sure that he didn't.
