Hey Hey Hey Steve- there’s nothing better than a liquid lunch. And when you get back and find that Omar has traded Luis to the Cards for Albert P you can go back out and celebrate.
I think they would have been better off getting Loni Anderson. At least she’s great to look at (or at least she was).
Omar is still sitting on his hands. But fear not, he’s meeting with the agent for a 36-year-old catcher, whom he will offer at least a two year deal. There is an unconfirmed rumor that at 53, Julio Franco has been seen lurking near Omar, however sources say that Omar will not offer franco more than 7 guaranteed years.
“Hessman, 32 in March, hit .217/.324/.442 in 548 plate appearances for the Tigers’ Triple A affiliate”
oh my god
oh my god
at least I was AAA player of the year!!!!
Love every comment you write. My Yankee fan friends always say “the off season hot stove is the best time of year for Mets fans”. Now, with Omar sitting in a suite at the Marriot, probably watching highlights of Beltran watching the 3rd strike on the MLB channel, this GM meeting is making me sick, and will for probably the whole off season. Your previous comments were RIGHT ON MARK:
This Mets team has a ton of holes. Starting pitching is the biggest followed by a strong defensive catcher, a big corner bat and a solid second baseman. The injuries of last season are a smoke screen to what this team needs to get back to being a contender. Even with a healthy Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Johan Santana and a rejuvenated David Wright, this team still has no grasp of the fundamentals of baseball and a lack of physical and metal toughness. If you were a major league free agent why would you want to play for the Mets?
Maybe the best move the Mets could make this winter is to put up a for sale sign.
Johhny Fever or Les Nessman, at least they are funny…The Mets are sad…how did they at least not seriously get in on Figgins? It is clear the strategy…sign all the old catchers, and wait to see who does not get what they want from other teams. Then over pay for them.
As for Franco, Telfon Omar probably told him he is not old enough to be signed, he still too young and athletic to be signed. Our team only likes them old and broken down.
As bad as it is, at least I can come here and see almost daily references to the Kinks.
much love for The Kinks here Bob As Mets fans we’re always Living On A Thin Line!
If we can’t get any other deals going, I’m wondering if the Mets, Cubs, Rays deal already talked about involving Castillo, Bradley, and Burrell might be a GOOD bad deal? Burrell would only be here for one year for $9 Mil and if Crawford is a free agent next year we can bid on him for LF. Maybe Burrell can hit as good for the Mets as he did against the Mets. As for his fielding, Beltran and Pagan are used to a slowfooted LFer from last year. And we get rid of Cstillo. Can’t we suck it up for 2010 to break out in 2011?
Rich I had a huge crush on Bailey Quarters
Steve, my brother was into her also. I was into Loni. She…uh…wore nice sweaters.
The Thanksgiving Turkey episode is one of the top ten to fifteen individual episodes of TV EVER. Watched some episodes the other day, including the “Drinking-reaction episode” which I showed to one of my classes. Still funny.
