Get Johny Damon!!! He'll bring more class to the place than any of the others. Promote young shortstops to go into short left for the soft tosses.
Any while they're at it, don't let Shelly Duncan slip by!!! Remember the last MinL HR champ Mets stole from the Yanks? Also a first baseman, and they're still talking about Marvelous Marv.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('156658','Richard Deegan','Get Johny Damon!!!
The New York Baseball Digest has a video of the old Polo Grounds on it. I saw the Mets play there in '62 and'63. IT WAS GREAT! Shea sucked. $iti Feild is a big upgrade on the 2 of them. And if you don't agree with me you must be a Yankee fan (ho ho).
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('156627','peter','The New York Baseball Digest has a video of the old Polo Grounds on it. I say one more time...stay away from a 36 year old catcher.

I agree Rich. "We" need to get younger. Damon's defense would be an issue covering the questionably expansive left field in Shake Shack Stadium. His power numbers would tail off due to the questionably expansive right field of Shake Shack Stadium.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('156625','Michael','
<a href=\'#comment-156621\' rel=\"nofollow\">Originally Posted By Rich<\/a>Wow.
Maybe Cliff Lee'll have a big grude against the Phils & come to $iti next year for revenge? Damon is good. He'll grow his hair back & play like he's got the powers of Samson. Can we dump Luis on the Cubs now?
I'm in. Let's get Damon. I can live with the shoddy outfield play to get a kick-ass leader on the team, and an above-average lefty bat.

The delta in money should be spent on pitching, pitching, pitching. I know Joel Pineiro is not a big name, but he sure did a number on the Mets twice last year with his pinpoint breaking stuff. He's an underrated pitcher -- I really like him. (Although yes, anyone could look like a world beater against us.)
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('156613','George the Stork','I\'m in.
Agree 100%.

Regarding Bay not wanting to play here - I said months ago that no free agents with talent and choices would play for the Mets. Either the proprietor of this website or a commentator said I was wrong and that the players' association would push Bay or whoever to take the highest offer.

Once again, I, the guy who told you two years ago that omar sucked and had to go, am right.

I'm not saying this to gloat - I'm saying this to encouarage people to embrace my dire but true point of view - that this franchise is DOOMED until the wilpons sell. All this stuff in the interim - 'if omar does this, if omar does that, if we get lackey, if we get halliday, if reyes is healthy' - and so on is just a big circle jerk.

So - you were late to the omar sucks party. you were late to the 'no free agents will sign here' party. Now I am once again inviting you to the boycott the Mets until the wilpons sell party. Don't be wrong again...40 more years of jeff wilpon awaits us unless WE HURT THE WILONS IN THEIR WALLETS RIGHT NOW.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('156612','the stork','Agree 100%.\r\n\r\nRegarding Bay not wanting to play here - I said months ago that no free agents with talent and choices would play for the Mets.
