Excellent. Written like freakin Dickens and so spot on. You touched on it. The NYY fear nothing more than the NYM. Why? No team, in any sport, turns this city upside down when it wins. There is no debate on this point. The NYY fan can’t comprehend why this is. Shit, I don’t get it either! It just is. They live in fear of the late 60s and 80s. They can’t understand how they can ever be second fiddle, but when the Mets win, the NYY aren’t even fourth fiddle. I’m typing this at midway airport in Chicago, waiting for a flight to LGA that lands at 4. I’m getting in the car and going to the 4:10 game when I land. Loyalty like that only Mets fans can understand.
No Rich, I don’t and never will understanding the envy that Mets fans have for the 27 time WORLD CHAMPIONS.
I admire your loyalty but suggest you direct your anger at the ownership, the GM, and the insect at shortstop who will never be #1 in this town.
I know, Michael, what was I thinking? It’s not like any Yankee fans are obsessed with Mets sites and feel a compulsive need to comment on every post. I must have been on crystal meth, I wonder from which Yankee I may have scored that.
I plead guilty. But until the results of 2000 are over turned the bragging rights remain where they are.
And one more thing, babe.
Games are won on the field, not in the seats.
I really don’t give a hoot about my fellow Yankee fans or the few commoners who wait on line at The Shake Shack.
