What the hell is going on in Flushing ? Did Frankie Rodriguez mistake his father in law for Jerry Manuel ? I mean if KO-Rod was going to yoke someone, Manuel would have been the best target for not brining him into the game in the 8th inning. How do you justify leaving your best reliever with his ass nailed to a seat in the bullpen in big spot late in the game?
So today KO-Rod will be arraigned in Queen Criminal Court on domestic violence charges and no matter if his father in law doesn’t want to press charges it’s out of his hands as in NYC the law is the City of NY is now the plaintiff in this case. This could be the best news the Mets get all year, maybe Rodriguez gets two years in the slammer and the Mets get to void his contract. Props to the Pops for taking one for the team.
I have a very funny feeling that David Wright will go to management very very quietly this winter and ask to be traded.
I’m leaving the Cape tomorrow and heading back to NYC and what I’ll miss most besides the beach and Main St in Hyannis is the great baseball I’ve seen here the last 10 days. Yesterday in Game 1 of the Cape League Finals I saw one of the best pitching performances of the year as RHP Matt Andreise out of Cal-Riverside pitched a complete game shutout to give the Cotuit Kettlers a 3-0 win over the Y-D Red Sox. Y-D is an offensive power house and that makes this game more special.
Then I’ve been watching some Red Sox games as you can’t help it they are on every TV in every bar and restaurant on the Cape. For all the injuries the club has suffered this year they keep on playing good hard fundi baseball and are still on the Highlanders tail.
There is a ton of good baseball and well run baseball teams out there just don’t go looking on 126th St and Roosevelt Ave in Queens for it though.

If Wright were to leave, Murph would have been the perfect replacement, but…we screwed that up, didn’t we? Murph is really suited to be a 3B/DH and nothing more.
He (the third baseman) might ask to be traded, or start to say get rid of these bums or get rid of me. These guys are a bunch of losers. Although he may not exactly have a champioship pedigree himself. It actually was nice to see the anger come out after the game Tuesday night. Also, I think someone ought to take the tape of Ralph Kiner & the booth talking about Wrights’ problems at the plate, and Mr. Wright, needs to heed the Hall of Famers words.
Man, sometimes it’s just good to sit on the sidelines and watch the idiots in Flushing self destruct.
We talk a lot about Wright and Reyes and adding players to take advantage of what should be their prime baseball years but maybe both of them feel their prime years would be served better with another club? Or could both players get together and sit down with dumbass Jeffey and ask him he he has a clue as to which direction the team is going.
Krane, what evidence is there that Jeffey knows what’s going on? The man is clueless. Am I the only one that heard what was left of the crowd Wednesday night, after the ML leading ninth GS surrendered, chanting Wal-ly Back-man!?????
@pfh64 – Yeah, and you lost 3 games to these boneheads.
George, (and I was there the day you slammed into Don Hahn in left centerfield) what the heck are you talking about?
And yes, I remember my head being on a swivel, watching you and Don on the ground, and Ralph Garr speeding around the bases for an inside the park home run. The Flash could not have gotten to that ball fast enough to prevent it, let alone Rusty Staub.
Wally Backman? how truly weird is the question if he is the answer. Can the mets truly be this stupid, publicity wise, to give Backman the job?…F Rodriguez is a shitbird, a wanne be hamster. How is it we always get these guys after they begin drinking the Kool-ade?Is there no end to the madness?…Once when listing my character defects, I added Met fan and the other person understood…This is the best Mets blog I have found.
The only problem with that is Ho-Say has handshake practice during working hours.
Patrick,
As a Mets’ fan, you should understand the folks looking for Wally Backman to manage. They are looking for someone to despise losing as much as we do. No one else in the organization seems to hate it. As for “tantrums” not really proof of hatred of losing, outside of Wright slamming his helmet the other day, and the last three proformances by the starters has anyone shown any “cajones” on this team? (Beating up of family not included)
By the way, I have seen the stories that prove that MLB’s substance abuse program is not working by any stretch of the imagination. What is this you say? Not working? Yes…according to theese stories, Luis Castillo feels he should still be the every day second baseman. Maybe the program does not check for hallucinogenic drugs, only steriods.
I still don’t see wally as the answer except to trivia questions…hating losing? that is a qualification? Like Joe the cobra Frazier?I will take a smart baseball lifer over a little fiery “field general” .Unfortunately, the mets like mascots as managers
