AS PAT MISCH PITCHES, OLLIVER PEREZ WILL DE-SHELL SUNFLOWER SEEDS

If I worked in the Mets payroll department, when it’s time to cut the players paychecks, I would put Robert Allen Dickey’ name on the check for Ollie Perez and put Perez name on Dickey’ digits. Obviously OP has no shame or is just as ignorant as we Mets fans make him out to be, that he still picks up his check for doing absolutely nothing positive for this team while R.A. Dickey goes out start after start and lives the journeyman’s dream season in the Big Leagues.

At some point doesn’t professional pride resonate with Perez, where he sees that going to Buffalo and then heading to St. Lonesome in the winter to work on being a pitcher, instead of the thrower he has become? Then again you would have to have a little bit going on between your ears and OP seems to be lacking in that, so he is relegated to the Mets version of the NYC Board of Education’s “rubber room” where they send teacher’s who can no longer handle a classroom and pay them full salary and benefits while they figure out what to do with them.

If I were the manager of the Mets, I would take all of Perez’ belongings from his locker and leave them in the janitor’s closet and give the locker to Pat Misch. How is OP not embarrassed by the fact, the club never even gave it a thought of giving him the ball today against the Phillies ? Ollie Perez, have you no shame?

For the first time in his Mets career, Luis Castillo and Mets fans are on the same page, yes Luis, you got to go! What other team has players begging for their release or trade and are STILL ALLOWED TO PLAY!!!!!! Castillo and Francoeur want to leave, so why haven’t they been granted their wish?

It’s not often these days we hear from Omar Minaya, and when we do, we realize why he shouldn’t speak in public. When asked what Frankie Rodriguez said to him about the incident with his babies moma’s daddy, Omar the Orator said:

“He said he feels really bad he let the organization down. He let himself down and his teammates down,” Minaya said. “To me, that’s an apology. Did he use that word? I will not tell you that, but I will tell you that he does not feel good.”

Omar, what the fuck are you talking about? Did he apologize or not? And did you, as the GM of the team, tell him he had better apologize to his teammates especially to those teammate whose wives and children were in that room to witness what happened? I would hope that Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes, who both said their wives and kids were there at the time all hell broke lose, would confront him on what happened. Prove me wrong Mets players, I say no one has the balls to call out K-Rod on this.

I hope Pat Misch pitches a great game today as he has earned the right for this start and anything that puts it up Mets management’s ass is fine with me.

This is what is has come down to for me. Mets management has taken a forty six year Mets fan and has me rooting for the organization to fall flat on it’s face. I want Ollie Perez to pitch and get shelled. I want Jeff Francoeur to play every day and strike out four times a game. I want Jerry Manuel to keep lifting starting pitchers for an ineffective bullpen. I want David Wright to go to ownership and ask them “where are we going as an organization so I know if I should play out my contract and go elsewhere”. I want some other financial shyster to come along and steal the rest of the Skill Sets money so they are forced to sell the team (You suck Bernie Madoff why couldn’t wipe out the Wilpon’s I would have spoken up for you at your parole hearing if you did ) I want to burn this fucker to the ground and start over. I so fucking sick and tired and being so fucking sick and tired about this disaster of an organization.

Oh in case you haven’t picked up on it, I’m back from vacation.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU’VE SEEN IT ALL……………

What the hell is going on in Flushing ? Did Frankie Rodriguez mistake his father in law for Jerry Manuel ? I mean if KO-Rod was going to yoke someone, Manuel would have been the best target for not brining him into the game in the 8th inning. How do you justify leaving your best reliever with his ass nailed to a seat in the bullpen in big spot late in the game?

So today KO-Rod will be arraigned in Queen Criminal Court on domestic violence charges and no matter if his father in law doesn’t want to press charges it’s out of his hands as in NYC the law is the City of NY is now the plaintiff in this case.  This could be the best news the Mets get all year, maybe Rodriguez gets two years in the slammer and the Mets get to void his contract. Props to the Pops for taking one for the team.

I have a very funny feeling that David Wright will go to management very very quietly this winter and ask to be traded.

I’m leaving the Cape tomorrow and heading back to NYC and what I’ll miss most besides the beach and Main St in Hyannis is the great baseball I’ve seen here the last 10 days.  Yesterday in Game 1 of the Cape League Finals I saw one of the best pitching performances of the year as  RHP Matt Andreise out of Cal-Riverside pitched a complete game shutout to give the Cotuit Kettlers a 3-0 win over the Y-D Red Sox. Y-D is an offensive power house and that makes this game more special.

Then I’ve been watching some Red Sox games as you can’t help it they are on every TV in every bar and restaurant on the Cape.  For all the injuries the club has suffered this year they keep on playing good hard fundi baseball and are still on the Highlanders tail.

There is a ton of good baseball and well run baseball teams out there just don’t go looking on 126th St and Roosevelt Ave in Queens for it though.

LIKE A RAT JUMPING OFF A SINKING SHIP, FRENCHY WOULD LIKE A TRADE

So the great clubhouse chemist Jeff Francoeur has asked to be traded if he is not inserted into the everyday Mets lineup. Well, Frenchy didn’t exactly make this demand on his own he had his agent Ms. Molly Fletcher make it for him. In fact Ms. Molly had some rather pointed words for the Mets and Jerry Manuel about her client:

In a telephone interview, Fletcher indicated she would monitor Francoeur’s playing time over the next week, interested in whether or not manager Jerry Manuel follows through on his amended plan to let Francoeur face right-handed pitchers, a group he historically struggles against and is hitting just .217 against this season.

“Talk to me is just that: It’s talk,” Fletcher said. “What matters is what happens and is he in right field every day. And that’s what we’re watching.”

How does Mets management put up this bullshit? Who the fuck is Jeff Francoeur and Ms. Molly Fletcher to tell the Mets who to play and when they play? The Skill Sets cannot be this yellow bellied that they that take this from some agent not named Scott Boras? I hate to tell you this Mets fans but shit like this would never ever fly in the South Bronx. Could you imagine a player as sucky as Frenchy sending his female agent in to the Bronx Robber Baron with demands such as these?

BELTRAN NEEDS A SHOT OF FRENCHY’S PERSONALITY

Not much in the way of Mets news but I guess we’ve all seen that Don Wakamatsu has been fired as Mariners manager,(but still has his career in Rap to fall back on) and Jerry Manuel lives on as the lamest of lame duck skippers. I see where Manuel now wants to sit Carlos Beltran who is not very happy about it. I guess he can’t tell jokes and juggle like Jeff Francoeur who persuade Manuel to give him more playing time. Maybe learn guitar Carlos and then serenade the ’Gangsta’ .

I agree here with Mathew Cerrone, Beltran needs to play but he needs to bat lower in the order and maybe move over to RF for now and let Angel Pagan play CF.

A fan is suing the Mets, MLB, Luis Castillo and just about anyone else he can fit on a legal brief for Castillo’s bat breaking and entering the stands and hitting this guy in the kisser. Who knew balsa wood could be so dangerous.  I bet this guy was either on his cell phone waving to a camera or just not paying attention. Sorry no litigation money for you!

Yesterday the Y-D Red Sox exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning against the Orleans Firebirds in the first game of the best of three East Semi-Finals on the way to an un Cape League 23-10 win. Red Sox first baseman Jordan Ribera who has a thick lower torso that generates a big power swing, homered twice in the bottom of the first and just missed a third home run in the eighth inning. I’m trying to finagle my way over to Orleans for game two tonight at 7PM

HEY METS FANS, IT’S TIME TO PLAY “THE BLAME GAME”

Now that the most important road trip of 2010 is over, and really who’s shocked by the results, it’s time for finger pointing and scapegoating to begin.

First up is Carlos Beltran who looked anything like the premier Gold Glove centerfielder and offensive force we’ve seen.  Beltran has been blamed for this mid summer collapse and the inability of the New York State Senate to pass a balanced budget  but lost in all the hyperbole is the fact the organization bungled the medical handleing of his leg injury to where he had to go outside the organization to get the treatment he needed.  This left a bitter Beltran and Omar Minaya once again having to use flash cards to explain the situation to Jeffey Skill Sets. The biggest mistake Beltran made was rushing his rehab to tru to help this mess of a baseball team he should have been selfish and thought of himself and stay out until September. When the organization fucks you over, and the fans and MSM can’t stand you, then it’s time to think of you and your future because no matter what Carlos Beltran does, he can’t win around here.  So the Mets front office needs to do anything it can to move Beltran to another team this offseason. It’s a move that benefits both sides.

The Klapper writes a column today saying what we all have been saying for about a year now that Jerry Manuel needs to be fired. If you need more proof of this, he and Jeff Francoeur had a sit down yesterday where Manuel retracted his stance that Frenchy and F-Mart would form a platoon in right field. The “Me First” Francoeur (funny how Francoeur is portrayed as this rah-rah team guy but in reality is a selfish prick and Beltran who is portrayed as the less than team guy, shows more of a team first attitude by coming back from serious injury to early to help the team) cmae out of the meeting laughing and back slapping with Manuel with the news that I won’t be a strict platoon, that Frenchy will play bulk of the time in RF. If Omar Minaya were a real GM after hearing this, he’d cut Francoeur on the spot.

Hey Mets are back home tomorrow night against the Rockies, I’m guessing there are seats available?

Want to feel old? Lee Mazzilli Jr. is playing for the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape League, so is Michael Yazstremski the GRAND SON of Carl Yazstremski

STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES BUT THE METS WILL NEVER HURT ME

My biggest problem with Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel is neither of these two challenge any of their players publicly. I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do but desperate times call for desperate measures.   The cool, calm way is just not working and Jerry trying not to throw anyone under a bus in the press isn’t working  either, so maybe it’s time for some tough love and start calling guys out by name.  If your Manuel, you know your job is on the line and if these underachievers don’t kick it in gear soon, you’ll be out of a job and maybe that’s what Manuel wants. Maybe J-Man has had it with this team and organization that he can just play out the next month and a half get released and go home?  It could be the players are taking their cue from their skipper. That’s why Jerry Manuel has got to go. Let Dave Jauss finish out the season but a message needs to be sent this isn’t a fucking country club and no one is set for life in Flushing.

Same with Minaya, how does he stay so calm? At some point shouldn’t he address the team and read the riot act? Doesn’t it bother him that just about every Mets fan thinks he’s a shit ass GM that only knows how to throw money at free agents and sign over the hill players?  Does he enjoy being in charge of a team that is made the punch line of jokes in all of baseball?

What about the owner? Does Jeffey Skill Sets enjoy be called a douchebag by me and other fans? Doesn’t get he ever get pissed that he is portrayed as a buffoon and spoiled little rich kid that evey Mets fan wants to punch in the face?

Is there anyone associated with this organization that ever gets mad? Besides Crazy Freddie? If ownership had a quarter of the passion and fight of it’s fan base, this team wouldn’t be in the sad position it’s in now.

You know what makes it worse? The Phillies and Red Sox have been decimated by injuries but both teams are still in the think of a pennant race. You know why? Because their players have boulders for balls unlike our Mets who I hate to say it, are cowards and I can call them cowards and losers and any other name I want and any of the MSM can show this post to the players, GM, or owner and they won’t do a damn thing about it.

Hey Omar, Hey Jerry, Hey Jeff, Hey David Wright any of you guys feel froggy, then leap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WAKE UP FREDDY SKILL SETS WAKE UP!

Have you ever daydreamed during a cold winter day while at work about your plans for the summer? Say take a trip to Europe or pack up the family and head to Disney World? Well, yesterday Freddy Skill Sets gave you on place you may want to cross off next summer’s destination, Citi Field.

Freddy Skill Sets has turned into a real recluse without the unkempt look . Yesterday up at Storrs CT where he was announcing that UCONN will now be the home of Huskies basketball and football (which means for the first time since it’s inception I’ll watch SNY in the winter) and when reporters questions him about his floundering baseball team, Freddy turned into a real Mr. Cranky Pants.  He lets the world know that Omar is safe and that his son Jeffey is doing a great job running the organization. Something tells me Ol’ Freddy was of his medication yesterday.  But I have to thank him because now I can think about  that trip I’ve wanted to make to California to go from San Francisco to LA next summer since there won’t be any reason to go to Citi Field next year.

The Cape Cod League playoffs start today and I’ll be at Yarmouth-Dennis (Y-D) for their game against the Harwich Mariners.  It’s best to get down to the field early and plant your chair in a good spot as the game tonight could draw a good 3,000 to 5,000 fans.

If MLB doesn’t do something to straighten out their umpires one of them is going to get the living shit beat out of them by a player, coach, manager or a fan running on the field. No joke here, I’m fucking serious.

YOU’RE ONLY AS HOT AS THE NEXT DAY’S STARTING PITCHER

So  much for the big boost that Frenchy’s home run was supposed to bring to the Mets, that was another smoke screen to hide the suck that is Jeff Francoeur. At least he’s well liked by his teammates. I’ve worked with guys like Frenchy, they are so personable and charismatic that you love being around them but when it comes to getting the actual work done they’re utter failures. I’ve worked with guys like Carlos Beltran as well, guys who have the personality of Elmers Glue, not only can’t you get a word out of them when they do speak, the words are nothing of substance. However when it comes to getting the job done they’re much more productive than the jovial good time Charley guy.  So if your job is on the line and a deadline to get your assignment done who do you want, the dull producer or the happy jack off? In this case dull wins.

A must read for you today is Greg Prince’ piece on his Faith and Fear in Flushing site where he lays it all out about this season and about who we, as Mets fans are.   Remember Mets fans, “we’ve got no place else to go” Classic Greg, Classic!

I’m in the middle of Red Sox Nation here on Cape Cod as many Bostonians are here on vacation. They are all hopped up for the four game series this weekend with the Highlanders which as a Mets fan puts me at a big disadvantage. Just a about every  reastaurant here shows Red Sox games on tv and I mean from big formal places to the fish joints on the side of the road the “Sawx” are a way of life out here. I’ve been wearing my Mr. Cap and I get some looks, some head shakes and some “we’re sorry’s” as well. I’m thinking of sitting outside a store on Main St in Hyannis with a cardboard sign that says METS FAN PLEASE HELP with my Mr. Met cap on the ground and see how much money I can make.

NO SLEEP ‘TILL BROOKLYN

I spent last night on Coney Island watching Wallyball and had the good fortune to meet up with Coop and Corey at the game. We were all excited over our beautiful Ike Davis bobble heads, well not exactly bobble heads more like bobble torso.

Greg Vaughn was also at MCU Park last night to see his son Corey play centerfield for the Cyclones and he was very cordial and accommodating to the fans signing autographs.

The Cyclones lost 3-2 to the Hudson Valley Renegades but they still hold a 7 ½ game lead over HV in the McNamara Division and an overall 30-14 record, the best in the NY-PENN League.

WallyBall in Queens in 2011 is gaining steam

While I was getting my Ike Davis bobble head looks Luis Castillo was playing bobble ball last night. The Mets are 7 ½ games back of the Bravos and 6 games ahead of the last place Washington Nationals.

Now the Skill Sets are looking to enter the world of the Squared Circle? It might be a good thing for Mets fans if Jeffey Skill Sets sees himself as a Vince McMahon wannabe. I’d love to see Jeffey get on a segment of Pipers Pit.

MLB Umpires fuck up again this time with the Infield Fly Rule. The beat goes on , the beat goes on.

The Howard Megdal for GM has reached the WWL and in his column has some great ideas as usual but where Howard and I differ is in dealing for Prince Fielder, who I believe is in the Guinness Book of Records as the World’s Fattest Vegan (Prince must be drenching his veggies in vats of Ranch dressing) at the expense of Ike Davis. NO NO 1,000 TIMES NO!!!!! By the way Howard Megdal will be my guest on my THIS CALL TO THE BULLPEN Radio Show on August 17th at 10PM ET. And speaking of THIS CALL TO THE BULLPEN, there will be no new show this week or next as I will be on Cape Cod enjoying the beach and trying not to become shark bait. You can listen to previous shows on the show page on Blog Talk Radio or download the shows on iTunes. Don’t forget to vist the THIS CALL TO THE BULLPEN store at Cafe Press. Yeah that’s right I’m like a Hunts Point Ho’ on the stroll

HEY WILPON, HOW ABOUT SHOWING US YOU CARE!!!!

Doesn’t 2006 seem like eon’s ago? Think about it, just four years ago the NY Mets were the NL East Champs and we Mets fans felt this was the beginning of a long prosperous run. Boy, were we wrong. Somehow, someway the organization has lost its focus and in turn has lost the trust of the fan base. As much as I enjoyed watching the Mets Hall of Fame induction ceremonies yesterday and the fact that the HOF and museum at Citi Field is exceptional and no one loves the history of this franchise more than I do, but it’s time to put that energy of bringing back the past, and move it towards building a solid organization for the future.

Quite frankly, I couldn’t care less who the next Mets HOF inductee will be and whose number could or should be retired or what kind of promotional days should be added to the schedule. I want the focus of ownership to be on building a minor league system that is the envy of baseball. I want the ownership to prove to me their not destitute by going over slot on draft picks they believe are worthy of such a contract. I want ownership to bring in the best and brightest executives in baseball to run this team and turn it into a perennial pennant contender. I want ownership to get rid of the deadwood on the roster.

I’ll be back at Citi Field a few more times this summer because I’m an addicted to the Mets and to baseball (Wednesday I went to Mets-Cards, Friday I was at SI Highlanders-Connecticut Tigers, tonight I’m going to Brooklyn Cyclones-Hudson Valley Renegades, Wednesday morning I leave for 10 days on Cape Cod just in time for the Cape Cod League Playoffs. If the Red Sox were home there would be a side trip to Boston for a game at Fenway as well oh yeah this on top of coaching baseball from the end of March to the end of July ) but guys like me are few and far between. It’s time for the Skill Sets to get their house in order and change the culture of this organization fast, this will be the most important off season in Flushing since the Wilpon/Doubleday ownership take over. The Skill Sets have to see a change of philosophy is needed. They can’t be that ignorant can they? Can they?

James Kannengieser at Amazin Avenue has his Five Ways to Improve The Mets and I’m sure we all agree on these each of them. What I can’t understand is this, when it comes to Toxic Ollie and The Late Luis Castillo what is the justification from ownership for not cutting both of them loose? Isn’t there anyone in these organizational meeting with a pair of balls to stand up and tell Jeffey Skill Sets it’s time to put the team ahead of the ledger sheet? Does Jeffey understand how much respect he would gain from the fan base if he came out and did a mass release of Perez, Castillo, Francoeur and Cora? Then tell the fans this is just the beginning of the organizational purge. Ah who am I kidding Jeffey Skill Sets is fucking gutless.

The Mets Police is now The A’s Police. Back in the mid 70’s when the Mets were awful, I was infatuated with the Cincinnati Reds Big Red Machine. I even subscribed the Reds Alert which was a weekly fan mag. So now through the great MLB Extra Innings package, I’ve been watching the Reds as they fight the Cardinals for the top spot in the NL Central. Maybe I’ll change this site into the Ed Armbrister Society.
