The votes have been tabulated for the New York National League Chapter of the Baseball Bloggers Alliance choice for the 2010 Goose Gossage Award presented to best reliever in the National League. The vote went as such:
1st place-Brian Wilson, SF Giants
2nd place-Heath Bell, SD Padres
3rd place-Bill Wagner, Atl Braves

They should also award the Goose Egg award to the worst performer out of the bullpen. Our very own Ollie might well scoop the prize.
I’m dense, so back to our K-ROD (not Mart) situation- Even if his option for 2012 kicks in, we can buy him out for $3.5 Mill? If that’s true then the $3.1 Mill he gave back this year buys him out. Can you give me some Relief and Close this problem out for me?
Less dense- is this correct? If K-Rod closes 55 games in ’11, he gets the $17.5 Mill no matter what. If he doesn’t, we can get rid of him for $3.5. This sucks. This is the first of Omar’s Zombie contracts that’ll haunt us. How many others are there that we don’t know about?
Dense again- K-Rod has to “finish” 55 games in ’11. What the hell does that mean? Does he have to get 55 Saves (I hope)? Do blown Saves count? 55 Appearances? It just KILLS me that he gets $17.5, as that could be one year of Lee’s salary (who we should probably forget about). Am I the only one banging his head off the wall over this?
Eagle as my Da used to say a guy like Ollie Perez is like tits on a bull
