Uncle Saul Wants To Cash Out of Mets

Ok where do I begin? Let’s start with the Mets news off the field.

The NY Times reported yesterday that Uncle Saul Katz is looking to cash in on his shares of Mets ownership. Uncle Saul is not a big baseball fan but he is a fan of making money, something the Mets have not been doing for him of late and he’s grown tired of it. The Mets organization of course cries out BULLSHIT on this report but since when do we ever believe the Mets ?

This is a huge deal if accurate maybe Uncle Saul just had a bad moment where Freddy Skill Sets put down the wrong card in their weekly bridge game or maybe Uncle Saul is tired of his nephew Jeffy, or it could be that Uncle Saul is being pragmatic and sees the tsunami of red ink with this team is fighting off and knows that there is still hundreds of millions of dollars in outstanding loans that have be paid off and knows the jig is up.

If Uncle Saul places a for sale ad for his shares of Mets control, Comcast/Time Warner would step in and make him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Who knows maybe Uncle Saul convinces Freddy to cash in too and use some of the money to send Jeffy to Apex Technical School to learn a trade.

Sandy Alderson went into uber-GM mode before the game last night when he summoned Raphel Montero and Jacob de Grom from Vegas. Then he placed Jenry Mejia in the bullpen and put Gonzalez German on the DL. Add that to bringing up Eric Campbell and sending Josh Satin to LV and Omar Quintanila to the waiver wire (which he cleared of course and accepted a spot with the 51’s)  and adding Wilmer Flores to the 25 man and a spot as the everyday shortstop.  And with all that, Alderson shout out the media as well. Nice job all around by the GM.

Speaking of shoutting , for a guy who proclaims he couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the Mets and never has a good word to say about them, Mike Francesa sure got his tighty-whities in a bunch when he was told he could not broadcast from inside Citi Field on Wednesday and Thursday. Why he’s upset at this is confusing. Doesn’t he realize the Mets are no longer on WFAN and that WOR has exclusive right to Mets broadcasts? Why would the Mets have players, broadcasters or the manager go on with Francesa when they can all go on the pre-game show with Seth Everett or with Pete McCarthy on his sports radio show on the Mets new flagship station?

Francesa forgets that WFAN did the same thing to Michael Kay when he wasn’t permitted to do his ESPN radio show from the booth at Yankee Stadium. Francesca and WFAN have selective outrage it seems. Besides all Francesa does is take phone calls from Mongos and do the crossword in the Daily News, you need to “be inda buldin” to do that?

Jenry Mejia sure looked like a guy who’d enjoy being a closer.

Don’t look now but with all our bitching and moaning about our beloved Mets, the team is a mere 3 games out of first place in the NL East. It looks like the division will not be a run away for the Nationals as I thought it would be and the Braves  have lots of injuries and the Phillies are old so could the Mets steal this division? Why not? If you think like a winner you will be a winner.
