Thanks for linking the WSBGM's interview with Valent. He seems like a really cool down to Earth guy that may end up coaching in the bigs someday.

Truth is, I never liked Egg Creams. I used to get my spaldeens at the local candy store and I've always been kind of surprised that there were no 'Met' spaldeens on sale at Shea.

Egg Creams are a BROOKLYN Thing, even a Bronx Thing:

At least $iti is asymetrical-Beltran might thrive, but $iti is in a different field angle from Shea Stadium, hence not the same as Shea was;

Wind Currents change with the way $iti is configured.

Love the egg cream reference...though I always thought it was a Manhattan thing! That classic candy store could be a major attraction in itself...but in addition to penny candies, jawbreakers and so forth, it needs the egg creams, the daily newspapers, and to really complete the deal, comic books! Do they still exist?

I agree that Pedro's work is done with the Mets.

But Carlos Beltran's work will be even more important at Citi Field. The new Citi dimensions will deepen right-center and left-center fields. Here is a comparison of the dimensions:

Shea: Left field - 338 feet
Left center - 371
Center - 410
Right center - 371
Right field - 338

Citi: Left field - 335
Left center - 379
Center - 408
Right center - 383
Right field - 330

Steve,

OK, cool, but I have to say I don't see it with that guy. Knight seems very average, with average stuff. Plus, he has retired once and almost retired a second time. But, to each his own. I'd bring Stokes back and give him a shot. The concern with him is even though he's at 95+, the ball falttens out and he does not seem to have a consistent second pitch.

Rich, I mean Brandon Knight!!!! I'd like to see him grab the Long Man/Spot Starter spot I would also bring in Stokes to camp on a minor league deal.

Steve,

You keep saying Brandon Knight for the pen, but something tells me you mean Brian Stokes. Knight hardly pitched in the pen, in fact, he was hardly heard from after that bad start and his journey to the Olympics. Stokes had great flashes out of the pen, and I'd give him a shot.
