R.A. DICKEY REACHES THE TOP OF MT. KILIMANJARO

I hope you all have been following R.A. Dickey’s climb up Mt Kilimanjaro via his blog post on the NY Times. Dickey and his group which contain Mets bullpen catcher Dave Racaniello and pitcher Kevin Slowey, were successful in reaching the summit of the mountain which is chronicled wonderfully by Dickey in his latest post.

Dickey has a book coming out in March and I must say after meeting Dickey and reading his dispatches from Mt. Kilimanjaro, this book will not only be a best seller but I bet it will be one of those must have in your library kind of book as well.

CHECK OUT MY THIS CALL TO THE BULPEN PODCAST WITH JEFF PEARLMAN

Last night I had the pleasure of talking with Jeff Pearlman on my THIS CALL TO THE BULLPEN Podcast on Blog Talk Radio. With Gary Carter and Lenny Dykstra, heroes from the halcyon days of the mid-80’s in the news recently, I felt Pearlman would be the best guy to talk to about both men as his book “The Bad Guys Won” is the quintessential book on the Mets of that era and he has interviewed and spent time with both players.  Just as I thought, Pearlman had some great insight on both players and the Mets of that era.

Jeff and I also talked about the Mets ownership troubles and of course Jose Reyes future as a Met.

You can listen to the podcast right here at Kranepool Society (lower right side bar) or at the show page on Blog Talk Radio or on iTunes.

I’LL BE JOINING MIKE SILVA ON NY BASEBALL DIGEST PODCAST TONIGHT AT 10PM ON BLOG TALK RADIO

I’ll be calling in to Mike Silva’s NY Baseball Digest Podcast on Blog Talk Radio tonight at around 10:30pm to talk about the Subway Series and whether it has “jumped the shark” or not.

Can’t get on Terry Collins for letting Mike Pelfrey start the 7th inning as Pelf had pitched a strong 6 innings. It’s easy to second guess after the game got away from the Mets in that inning and the intentional walk to Texiera backfired on Collins as he didn’t know that A-Rod has great numbers when the batter in front of him has been IW’ed.  Even with those numbers, I fear Tex more than I do A-Rod at this point. Rodriguez looks worn down to me.

Sucks to lose 2 of 3 to anyone and beating the Highlanders would have been sweet as the writers and YUCK announcers have beaten the Buffalo Mets angle to death.

Oh well, on to Chicago

Keep Gary Carter in your thoughts and prayers
