Calling All Mets Moms !

The NY Mets are looking for a few good Moms to join in a panel discussion giving feedback to the club on how to make the Citi Field experience better as a family event.  This is quite an astute move made by the club as any man with kids knows it’s Mom who keeps everything progressing in the right direction.

Moms never fall asleep on the couch when watching their kids. Moms never hold up take out menus and say “what would kids like for dinner? Italian? Chinese? Or how’s about a trip to Micky D’s? And no woman who has ever bore children has ever sat down and watched Sponge Bob Square Pants and laughed out loud? None. You know why? Moms have that special pragmatic way of handling things that Dads are just not equipped with.  So the Mets reaching out to the Moms of the fan base is quite frankly a stroke of genius.

The organization is trying to make a strong effort to make your day at Citi Field one you would want to do again. Let’s be honest here, the male baseball fan can deal with a dirty bathroom or a rude usher and a Schmohawk or two acting up with the hops and barley hit their brain, but Moms do not tolerated any of that and I’m sure the women who sign up for this panel will have ideas and opinions on how to make a day at Citi Field one that is enjoyable and find practical ways to utilized the staff and amenities at Citi Field in a better more efficient way .

I still don’t think even a panel of Moms can work to get Dads to admit that short cut he knows to beat the traffic on the Grand Central was a big mistake.

I had car issues and computer issues today so I’m not in any kind of mood to write but Joe McDonlad has a video of the last piece of Shea Stadium to bite the dust. Shea Stadium is no more. Let that swril around your brain for awhile. The Shea Stadium Era is done. Rest in Peace Shea.

Don’t for get tomorrow night PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL at 9PM EST with our guests Paul Coutinho  of ESPN1050 Radio and Martin Gandy of Talking-Chop.

METS BUILDING BACK TO FRONT

If I were building a football team I’d build I’d do it from the inside out. Which means I’d build my offensive and defensive lines first then go with running backs, linebackers and so forth. It looks like the Mets plan is similar as they look to be going from back to front.

The first order of winter business seems to be closer which is now between Francisco Rodriguez and Brain Fuentes which is fine by me. What isn’t fine is the way the Mets are going about signing these players as they are using the government contract rule where the lowest bidder gets the deal. As someone in government and as a daily passenger of the Staten Island Ferry (4 boats that are less than five years old at a cost of $30mil a piece that breakdown for months at a time) I can tell you this method of business doesn’t always work out for the best.

What Omar and Co. need to do is decided which closer they want and damn the money. If K-Rod checks out medically and he’s the guy then if it takes four years guaranteed then do it. If Fuentes is your man then sign him. Don’t dick around here pick your guy and sign him.

I think they want K-Rod but at a reduced price than he wants and I have a feeling Rodriguez’ agent is at a disadvantage going up against Omar and Tony B.
