Positively Mets

Is that a light I see at the end of the Mets spring training tunnel? This has been one of the most uninspiring Mets camps in a while, sure Johan Santana’ comeback (He is pitching today vs. the Cards) has been the best news and watching Matt Harvey (discount yesterday’s appearance) Jureys Familia and Zack Wheeler give Mets hope along with the stellar relief work by neophyte pitcher Josh Edgin, that future of the team isn’t as bleak as many think.

In fact there is (are you sitting down) POSSITIVE news out of St. Lonesome that David Wright will play today and bat 3rd. Also, Scott Hairston and Andres Torres seem to be ready to roll once again, which makes me wonder if hearing Terry Collins talk glowingly about Matt Den Dekker and Kirk Nieuwenhuis, help speed up the healing process for the two veteran outfielders. That’s something that has been missing for a few years with the Mets; the vets seem complacent knowing there is no one in the high minors to take their place. That’s changed and that’s good.

That’s it for me today, I have a head cold that is now settling in my sinus so I’m going back to lay down  but I will make sure I’m in front  my TV at noon for the Tim Tebow presser because I’m sure if I put my hands on the TV while Tebow is speaking, he’ll cure me.

PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL TONIGHT AT 9:30PM EDST

I am on my way to $iti Field to root on our Mets to take three of four from Cards and tonight on PRO BASEBALL CENTRAL I’ll have wrap up of the game plus our guest will be Ben Kabak of River Ave Blues and we will discuss the state of the Highlanders and look at this weekends match up with the Mets at $iti Field Join us live on Blog Talk Radio or listen later to the podcast right here at Kranepool Society or at our Pro Baseball Central site.

I’m starting to sense among  Mets fans that there is a loving embrace for lack of something better with this team of B-listers.  It has become the type of team that suits it fan base better one in which the media and other outside forces mock and belittle and the team picking up on this is developing and us against the world mentality. I mean seriously how could you call yourself a true orange and blue Mets fan and boo this bunch?

Mets fans have always declared “bring up the kids” well the best of the kids are here, F-Mart, Murphy, Evans, Parnell I’ll even throw Santos in the mix  even if he’s not technically “a kid” so now we have to back them up to booing no yelling remember they’re our kids

TRAINING DAY

I’m at an all day training class so I don’t have much time to post but a few things from last nights game:

You can’t pitch any better than Livan Hernandez last night unless of course you’re Joel Pinero.

The toughest hurrdle for the Mets now is they must play flawless defense and they can’t get down by 3 runs or more in any game. Murphy was kicking himself for the throwing error that led to the first run but when El Hombre knocked in two with his single 3 runs may as well been 13 runs with the way Pineiro was hurling ground ball out after ground ball out.

J-Man tried to take the bullet for Livan on his botched fake bunt/hit and run attempt as Hernandez said after the game he did it on his own and Manuel claimed he put the play on. The thing is on the surface it was a bad play as the bunt was in order but f he executed it then it would have been the Mets Turning Point of The Game.

I watched two games last night the Mets-Cards then I flipped over to the Giants-A’s to see Tim Lincicum and for the first time in I don’t know when I saw two starters pitch complete games. WOW what’ s next a revival of wool uniforms?

Gotta run school is back in session.

KEEP THE PHILLY TRASH OUT OF $ITI

A blog called Phillies Nation (how original? a better name should have been “We Have A MLB Team in Philly? Who Knew?) is trying to organize a trip to $iti Field for the Aug 21-23 Amazin’s and the Scrapple eaters. They have hit a bit of a stumbling block as the tickets are hard to come by and it seems the citizens of Philadelphia are upset that they can’t use their WIC cards to make the purchase:

In talking with Mets ticket representatives, it appears that they will be unlikely to accommodate most group ticket requests because there are so many. The only tickets that are definitely available are about $100 (bottom bowl, along foul line) and renting a bus to NYC is more expensive than to DC; therefore if we run a trip, it will be close $140 per person.

Since that is more expensive than our previous trips, I wanted to see if fans are interested in shelling out that kind of money to see the Phillies humiliate the Mets. There are only enough tickets for one bus, so only about 50 people could attend. If you or your friends are interested in going, please fill out the form below and when the details are finalized, you will be among the first contacted to reserve spots.

$140 bucks is expensive? Bunch of fucking brokesters. I spend more than that on bottled water. Keep your busted ass’ home besides if you all go out a rob a couple of convenience stores  to make money and you do make the trip don’t come through Staten Island as I’ll have the Kranepool Society posse on high alert as every port of entry will be covered you Tasty Kake eating blow hards
