I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE ANYWAY, WHATEVER IT IS, I’M AGAINST IT

This was in the comments section from my post yesterday where I mentioned this Day of Fan Outrage at Citi Field to let management know they do not want Jose Reyes to be traded:

I am the organizer of the above referenced event for JOSE REYES…so I must write to defend the people who are attending this with me…WE ARE NOT THE UNIFORMED EVIL TWITS that have been tweeting bad stuff about our players nor are we the ones who turn on our players the second they are doing poorly. Yes we all get cranky when the boys are sucking but we are not ignorant or hypictites (sp) SO please do not generalize those that you do not know…HAVE A NICE DAY. Donna

First off, thank you Donna I did have a nice day yesterday, second, I didn’t mean to lump you in with uninformed evil twits who kill the Mets pitch by pitch on Twitter and besides it’s one of the great functions of our democracy to protest what we feel is a wrong that should be righted but I must say holding a SAVE JOSE REYES Rally is silly.

It’s pretty simplistic thinking that mean old Sandy Alderson wants to dump Jose Reyes, in fact I bet Alderson wishes he didn’t have to deal with this issued this early in his stewardship as GM of the Mets but the reality is, he does and it’s his job to do what is best for the NY Mets organization.

Most Mets fans would love to have Reyes here for years to come and give Jose credit, he’s staying healthy and he is doing exactly what you need to do on the field in a walk year and he has put the pressure on the organization to make what could be a franchise changing decision. No one wants to deal Reyes or Beltran at the trade deadline because that means the Mets are also ran’s for another season. If the Mets are in the Wild Card hunt (look at the records of the NL teams in the hunt. There is not much difference, in fact the Mets by going 14-8 since that awful 5-13 start have jumped 7 spots in the Wild Card standings. What, too soon?) the question will be can the Skill Sets and the Minority Owner To Be Named Later,  afford to let Alderson be a buyer.

Instead of getting involved with a fans “look at me moment” I prefer sitting back and watching what will unfold with this ball club over the next month and a half. Let’s enjoy this nice run the team is on now, let’s hope the offense can figure out a way to get some hits off the very stingy Josh Johnson tonight and that Ronnie Paulino can do Big Pelf’s thinking for him and take a very important game from the Fish.

NAME YOUR TOP 50 METS PLAYERS OF ALL TIME

A couple of quick hits before I settle in to watch the Jets-Colts game. I’ve got no dog in this fight but I guess I’ll root for the Jets since their name ends in “ets”

Great post by Amazin’ Avenue showing pics of celebs in Mets attire. The first pic though is of Adam Sandler who is a Highlander fan. Kevin James, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Baba Booey, Tim Robbins and Jon Stewart I know are die hard Mets fans. I met Stewart at of all places the Bronx Zoo a few years ago when the zoo had a Holiday Lights Festival. He was waiting like me to put his kids on the Merry-Go-Round. I recognized him right away and before I could say hi to him, he approached me and commented about my Mets jacket and cap. As our kids rode the Merry Go Round we talked Mets baseball. Yes that was a cool, very cool.

Jason Robotham of Metszila found a great article about Chris Young that was written in Men’s Journal. I know there has been talk that Alderson will not go past $1.5 mil for another starting pitcher so it would be nice to sign a pitcher like Young to an incentive laden deal for one year with an option kicking in as one of those incentives .

Ed Marcus (a/k/a Rusty Jr.) of The Real Dirt Mets blog wants to know who you feel are the Top 50 Mets players of all time. I’m going to file my top 50 in the comments section of Ed’s post and I have to warn you there is no big research or statistical analysis with my list.

(as I write this post, Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks just jaunted 60 yds for a TD to put the Seahawks up 41-30 over the defending champs New Orleans Saints. The Seahawks are a 10 pt underdog and have an 11 pt lead with 3 mins left in the game. Lynch broke six tackles during his run. Incredible)

Somewhere on my Top 50 list of Mets players I will put the name R.A. Dickey. In just one year Dickey has won the respect and admiration of Mets fans like I’ve not seen in a long time

THANKS FOR NOTHING TWINKIES

You know what? I’m glad Terry Ryan said he wasn’t interested in interviewing for the Mets GM job, I’d want nothing to do with anyone from the Minnesota Twins organization.  It’s one thing to lose a series to the Bronx Bastards but the Twinkies laid down like dogs. No fight whatsoever.

If your a Twins fan and what I’m saying here pisses you off and you say that my Mets suck , so who am I to call out a team for failure, remember this, the Mets at least split their six game this season with the Highlanders and there are only two teams the Pinstriped Pricks  fear the Mets and the Red Sox.

Oh so Phil Hughes is now a great pitcher after last night’s performance. As I said in the comments section to our resident Highlander contributor, Michael all Highlander fans were shitting themselves silly over their starting rotation and now after playing a team that gave up, they think they have three Cy Young candidates. They’ve all but forgotten their bastard child AJ Burnett, who will have to pitch in the ALCS  and kicked to the curb Javier Lopez, who is awaiting deportation to the National League.

Oh yeah I got my Highlander Hate on in full glory!!!!!

I HATE TO WISH TIME AWAY, BUT I CAN’T WAIT FOR OPENING DAY!

The Brooklyn Met Fan says we should not rush to judgment on Dwight Gooden’s latest arrest for DWI, BMF says that the story of what really happened will come out but Gooden is listening to attorney’s and not making a statement as of yet. As I posted in the comments section of BMF’s site, as most readers here know, I’m a big Gooden fan and having met him a few times he was just a great guy but when you drive while intoxicated I have a huge problem with you.

In much better news, Jose Reyes is back in St. Lonesome and it seems just his presences in the locker room has amped up the team. What Jerry Manuel has to watch for is Reyes trying to get two weeks of lost time into two days. Reyes is adamant about being in the Opening Day lineup, we all hope he is.

Mike Silva has posted a story on the old Mayor’s Trophy games between the Mets and Yankees which I never remember being a big deal.

Josh Levitt of Jorge Says No fame has started up another site, MLBfreeagency.com the site as you’d imagine will focus on current and up coming free agents and all around good baseball talk. It’s well worth your while to check it out and bookmark the site.

Johnny Maestro, one of he great Rock and Rollers of the 60’s first with The Crest’s (16 Candles) and then with the Brooklyn Bridge (The Worst That Could Happen “Girl, I heard your getting married/heard your getting married/you know that’s not my scene” )

Whose music was a stable of NYC, especially Brooklyn, died yesterday at the age of 70. R.I.P. Johnny

OMAR LOOKING AT BENGI MOLINA

It’s safe to say, that Omar Minaya is not enamored with the play of Brian Schneider and as well he shouldn’t. It’s not so much his offense as the front office knew that Schneider was not much of a batsman but his defense to me and most likely to the Mets brain trust was not as advertised. Schneider came to the team with a good glove rep and as an a good pitch caller but those attributes were not on display much last season. Schneider had nagging injuries but to me he looked a little lazy with the glove and his pitchers (especially Petey) shook over his signals a lot of times in big spots.

On Metsblog there is a link to the SI story but read the comments section and where they are on to something where if Omar could land both Molina and Aaron Rowand that would be a major coup
