CARLOS BELTRAN SOUNDS LIKE A SHORT TERMER

I don’t blame him. We all know as does Beltran that he will not be a Met much longer.  The rest of MLB seems to know the same. The Giants gave him and Jose Reyes a lift to Phoenix for tonight’s All Star Game, a round about way of collusion I guess and Beltran being a vet of being wooed in the last year of a deal, is enjoying the dating process.

Not only are the Giants  interested in a relationship with Beltran but the Red Sox seem to want to pitch some woo too.

It will interesting to see where Beltran lands and what Sandy Alderson gets back in return. As Mets fans we should enjoy the last days of Carlos Beltran becuse we will miss him when he’s gone.

Now the Frankie Rodriguez has signed his soul away by joining forces with Scott Boras, Sandy Alderson should allow Boras to to be his broker in dealing K-Rod out of  Flushing.  Now when he’s dealt no tears will be shed.

What’s wrong with Mets fans not tuning in to SNY to watch Mets games? Seems the eyeballs that tune into to watch the Amazin’s have dropped off significantly and that is puzzling to me. This team is not only winning more than we thought they would but they a very easy to root for. I know it’s not the troika of Gary, Keith and Ron who are the best in the business.  I’d blame Chris Carlin, I think he scares kids when they see him on TV.

It’s hot as hell upstate  so the scout masters lodge is full to capacity as we bask in the air conditioning. Yes, we are a bunch of candy asses I admit but there ain’t a breeze to be had out here and after cooking a breakfast of bacon and eggs I feel I deserve a little me time. Besides all the kids are at merit badge classes so we have no one to yell  at.

FREDDY SKILLS GONE WILD

When I turned on my computer this morning there was a e-mail from the New Yorker with a link to a story written by Jeffery Tobin about Freddy Skill Sets and the rise and fall of the Skill Sets financial world. There are quotes it seems from Bernie Madoff, that makes both Freddy and Uncle Saul look like a couple of patsies when it came to finances.

The real bombeshell though is Freddy’s take on some of players, these comments are sure to start a violent shit storm with the Mets fan base.

The piece is long and I’m going to read it now so here’s the link so you can get a gander of it for yourself. Sometime later this morning I’ll be back with some comments but from reading Mets Blog and Adam Rubin’s Mets Blog this morning, losing two of three to the Highlanders will be a fart in the wind after this story gets it fill of eyeballs.

NOT A GOOD DAY IN THE LAND OF THE SKILL SETS

I’ve been out of my office all day as I had to go for a training class so when I get back I’m all set to write up a post on how I’m not worried about Billy Wags, done for the season and career as a Met due to Tommy John surgery. I was all set to say how I feel bad for Wags that he has to go under the knife and endure all the rehab that follows but I felt that with the way J-Man has mixed and matched his relievers and how guys like Brian Stokes and Luis Ayala have stepped up that maybe now that it’s a done deal that Wags is gone that the Mets will use this as “no respect” card to rally around.

Even if Wags is done for the year as much as I don’t even want to contemplate the 2009 season as we are up to our eyeballs in a fight for the division with the Phillies, I thought well there is Ayala, Stokes, Eddie Kunz  and maybe even a kid like Steven Clyene  who be as effective as a closer then I read Tom Verducci’ story on where have all the two inning closers gone and why hasn’t an organization stepped up and gone back to the Rolllie Fingers, Goose Goosage Bruce Sutter model of reliever. Then it dawned on me “Hey what about Ambriorix Burgos? Burgos is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and has been pitching in some minor league games and should be ready to go to winter league so throw Burgos in the mix with the other guys I mentioned and you know what? We are not in as bad shape as I thought. Then I see this in my Google Reader:

Mets Pitcher Burgos Arrested For Assaulting Girlfriend

We don’t know the whole story so I won’t jump to conclusion but if all this proves true then Burgos has got to be released. As this behavior can not be tolerated but I am willing to hear his account but I don’t know what he can say to justify his action. Right now Burgos is just a big fucking coward as far as I’m concerned.
